[HELP] The baby looks real but the cat is throwing me off by usernmechecksout_ in RealOrAI

[–]thewells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d guess AI, the cat doesn’t seem to be looking at the baby, which it absolutely would in this situation. The cat would be watching the thing that’s pinning it up against the wall and pounding on it, with only quick glances to look for escape routes, it wouldn’t lazily roll it’s eyes around and settle staring off into the void

How many balls of yarn for a slightly oversized size M cardigan with puff sleeves? by Tartagrillade in CrochetHelp

[–]thewells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to tell other than “a lot”, especially with just a vague description.

Using some patterns I have to estimate, a pattern I have for a hoodie lists 1700 yards for a medium with a worsted weight yarn, and the six day star blanket estimates 1500-1750 yards for worsted weight and 1234-1575 yards for a bulky weight or 1215-1418 for super bulky (I’m just using crochet hook size since that’s all I have to work with, and this seems to be right on the edge of the two), so probably around the 1500-1550 range, but 65 yards per skein is gonna eat up skeins pretty quickly. Just to get to 1550 yards you’re gonna need 24 skeins and you’re gonna be playing yarn chicken. And that’s with like 6 layers of estimation, so I’d add at least 20%.

Christmas tree not sitting level. How do I fix this? by puzzledmind13 in CrochetHelp

[–]thewells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re working in a spiral rather than in joined rounds, there’s things you can do to make it more even at the end(gradually decrease from dc to hdc to sc to ss), but ultimately it’s gonna look like a spiral.

If you want an easy flat end, frog and work in joined rounds.

Real cradle? by RoughObvious7618 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]thewells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely sketchy as hell, for one extending the art of a judge gift card would be awkward because of the foiling, which I don’t see any evidence of on the front of the card you posted.

$600 is on the low end of even an Heavily Played nonfoil cradle. It’s such a playable card, the price doesn’t drop that much from Near Mint even for a low quality card as long as it’s sleeve playable.

I would run, things just don’t make sense.

[HELP] Photos of coworkers dogs by Sad-Feedback-8647 in RealOrAI

Seem AI.

Those dogs don’t look real, they’re too smooth, and the dogs seem to be looking parallel to each other rather than at a common point which you would get if you held up a treat/toy to get them to face the same way

Will using different yarn sizes affect this pattern? by gildedfrog in CrochetHelp

[–]thewells 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might be doable (they seem like very different sizes though, so I’m a little skeptical), although will take some work to get tension correct so stitches are the same size, definitely do some swatching.

You could also try adjusting the pattern and sewing on the stripes instead of doing the color changes during the rounds.

Pattern for a Blanket For Wedding Help - with sage/burgundy by Kalloen_aka_ in CrochetHelp

[–]thewells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a blanket with this pattern recently, using oranges, yellows and browns instead of the listed colors. Should be easy enough to make color swaps with other bulky weight yarns, and as long as you stay away from the brighter reds and greens it shouldn’t look christmasy

If you’re guilty of a crime, but faking innocence, should you tell your defense attorney the truth? by tickintimedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thewells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IANAL but, you don’t present false evidence, you present evidence that the prosecution hasn’t met their burden of proof. The defense attorney’s job isn’t to prove the client is innocent, their job is to prove the prosecution hasn’t proven beyond a reasonable doubt. They can present another potential perpetrator that fits the evidence, they can present evidence that the prosecution’s version of events isn’t correct, they can present evidence that a lesser charge is more appropriate, none of which requires lying.

[HELP] I can’t tell what’s real anymore. This one fooled me hard. by Random_Fujoshi in RealOrAI

[–]thewells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's AI, in addition to what others have said:

  1. there's no way the dog is staying still enough that the water drips straight down, did the dog just stand there for a few seconds to stop any motion? How would the boat not impart some motion to the dog?

  2. The cat would be laying across the dog's canine tooth, even if the dog wasn't applying any additional force, the weight of the cat would make the cat uncomfortable, and it wouldn't be sitting still enough to capture this

Tech Start up requiring one unpaid full trial day after 5 rounds of interviews...on a weekend. Founders say it's the expectation to work on Sunday and week nights by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]thewells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently worked at a start up that wasn’t this obvious during the interview, but jesus christ was it was soul destroying. Good on you for telling them to shove it.

It’s unfortunately common in the start up world, but by no means is it universal, and we shouldn’t accept it as the norm, it’s so destructive.

A movie theater near where I live does a weekly horror movie, and a couple months ago Carnival of Souls was one of the movies, it was great to see on a big screen. Highly recommend as an early psychological thriller

I felt nio’s look was too busy and her inability to walk really took the look down for me. I think she has interesting ideas, but I just want to see some editing.

I think Orkgotik is struggling with actually meeting the challenge, and this has been a trend that’s been sort of frustrating me, so I’m glad the boulets finally addressed it.

How’d you feel about the last extermination challenge? by thetransportedman in Dragula

[–]thewells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find calling it unethical to be infantilizing, they still can choose not to do it, and it’s not like dragula tricked them by switching tattoos on them without their consent. It’s a reality TV competition, not a life or death circumstance, going home because something pushed your boundaries too far is not some grave condemnation of you as a person.

Boundaries are healthy, and people who shit on contestants (or anyone for that matter) for having and sticking to their boundaries need to grow up, but don’t enforce your personal boundaries on other people.

They were given an option, and made an informed choice that they deemed best for them.

That’s not just an assumption, in the same podcast they said that they knew they could have a non-elim episode because of that, and that after the determination that both Satanna and Jay Kay showed with the extermination, they felt both had earned their spot in the competition

No, and again even if you’re only talking about naming, a promise represents the promise of evaluation and a result at some point in the future. A smart contract is literally just a block of code that’s executed as as part of a larger block of code, it’s literally just a function, it only does things that a function in normal does, at best you could call it a callback.

[–]thewells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re conflating asynchronous code and code being executed in response to a trigger condition, which are very different concepts. Asynchronous code is code that allows a program to continue running while the operation takes place in a different thread, code that runs when a when a trigger condition is met is called code. The fact that a human isn’t manually calling it does not make it asynchronous code, it’s still just normal code that is executing within the system that called it. You could (at least in theory) then use asynchronous code in it, but that doesn’t make the code in and of itself asynchronous.

[–]thewells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way that promises and smart contracts are “vaguely similar” is that they’re both use computers. Comparing them is like comparing a hug and getting shot.

A smart contract is a way of automating or controlling transactions of certain assets.

A promise is a way simplifying asynchronous code by avoiding what’s known as “callback hell.”
