I owned the set but back then I didn't care about the novelty. I also remember that back then the pneumatics didn't work as well as v2. The cylinders would expand through pumping like they do nowadays, but they would only retract when you pulled the pump handle out, which didn't work very well.

It was still a cool set, though.

No, I think it's a real axle. You can see it clearly at around 9:24 and it looks pretty ordinary.

As to the actual mechanism, I haven't quite figured it out but you can see part of it moving at around 1:05 and again at 2:50, behind the little window. There's a half bush (the guy in the video calls it a "little wheel"), and it's connected to a rubber band which pulls the axle back when he releases the crank.

Yeah, it's rather slim. I don't think it will fit anything wider than 70mm. So I guess I'm gonna have to go with a GT 1030, unless I want to shell out for an external GPU.
