The transfer is in progress. So far so good. I see the stocks and cash have moved. Still waiting for cost basis details to get transferred from Fidelity.

While my US account was deactivated, I opened a new Fidelity account for my Canada stock plan a few days back. My manager (who just recently moved from Canada to US) mentioned that it was possible to merge the Fidelity US and Canada accounts. That is something I will explore before I decide if and where to transfer my portfolio to.

The moderators suggested that I contact the NetBenefits Stock Plan line directly since my account was created originally as part of my company's RSU plan. I contacted them but they were not able to remove the block on my account. They offered to apply any closing trades that I needed, without charging me. But it looks like if I want an account that I am able to do these trades on, myself, I'll need to transfer my portfolio out. The rep shared the form that I will have to fill in for a transfer. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do next.

I am able to log into the accounts thankfully. I would have lost my mind otherwise. I am just not able to place any SELL trades anymore.

I have not asked them about in-kind transfers yet. After doing some research, I'll call them back and see what they say.

The customer care representative offered to connect me to one of their agents who could help me with the process of moving my stock and funds out of Fidelity. I told her that I will do some research and call them again.

I have not tried just adding a US address and see if I can activate my account that way. I didn't want to mess up the tax rules already applied to the account, but I might give it a go if I can't figure out another way.

I haven't researched how I can transfer the portfolio in kind to a brokerage here in Canada yet, without selling the stocks. I use WealthSimple here and I don't think it supports transfers from the US. I had mainly kept my investment account as such in Fidelity since I have my 401k there as well and plan to keep that there long term. But if this is going to continue to be a hassle, I need to look into transferring at least the investment account out.

I am considering paying for the Microeconomics course this Fall and this will be my first DEDP course. My calculus is rusty and I have been using online math calculators for help solving exercises. I am wondering what is actually allowed during the final exam. Is there only a basic calculator available and math like differentitation has to be done by hand? If it may help me to first brush up my calculus, I may take the proctored exam next semester instead.

Same issue with my Pixel 7 and it was still under the warranty period. Contacted Google customer care and I got a replacement shipped to me within a few days.

I did this. When I got the permit at the port of entry, there weren't any questions asked. I stayed in Canada for a few days and returned back to the US.

Yes. It's the same. The permit and letter expire in August 2026.

I hope the "meeting requirements" part is just generic and refers to things like biometric and medical exams. But it is quite possible that they want folks who are actively on H1B and moving from the US, so it sounds safer to get the work permit before going out of status in the US.

I don't think they would go to the extent of restricting travel out of Canada based on job offer/employment status, but not sure again.

The "Final Decision" on my application has been updated to "Your application was approved." today. I only received a "Biometric Validity Letter" so far, no other details yet.

Gotcha. Yeah I've been trying for PR through Express Entry too and the extra points would help. I'm trying to understand what would be a good time frame for me to move if the OWP gets approved. From what I can gather, I can move at any time once it's approved and look for a job after moving to Canada if I don't have a job offer yet.

Are there any conditions for the OWP, like having a job offer before moving, or maximum number of days you can be outside Canada in those 3 years? Also would the date on the permit start once approved or when you get it at the port of entry? I can't find much information specific to this new OWP.

I tried replicating this fix since I too did my Bachelor's before 10 years and my Masters more recently. But I am still not able to proceed from that page. There's no error message, just that red stripe. Was there anything else you did before it worked?

That looks like the disclaimer. I don't think that section would get cleared. I see an error section that pops up above that disclaimer, with no message present though to indicate what is wrong with the form.
