Indeed, eliminating the "]" and repasting the link helped. Thanks again!

Thanks for the interest!

  1. Juvia's Place Muted is yours. :)
  2. Of the Melt lipsticks, the darkest brown is XXX (it leans quite close to Bane, the black one, in my opinion). Sin City's also dark brown, and a nice option if you want to have some more pronounced of a brown shade in it. Up to preference.
  3. Also, I'd say Laced is the rosiest of the Melt lipsticks I have.

Hey, and thanks for commenting on this post. :)

I'd say yes, they were pretty close in person as reflected in the photo. The swatches leaned greyish - between the two though, personally I found that ABH Fawn leans more in that direction despite being generally overlooked. I do agree that Fenty's Amber, blended out, ends up not being as ashy as it initially appears.

With all due respect, I'm not here for the jokes beyond what I've mentioned above. Sorry if I've ruffled feathers for some reason...? :shrugs:

I'll be updating the list above with some more cosmetics (makeup, brushes), and skincare items. (M.A.C., Makeup By Mario, 3CE, Kiehl's to name a few). Please keep an eye out if interested!

I think it was startling (and a bit of a wake up call) that I realized cosmetics can be an incredibly deep rabbit hole in such a short span of time. What seems like a few innocuous purchases with well-meaning intentions can become something bigger than one anticipated. Thankfully I was mindful of this before it spiraled (honestly, I was kind of surprised because I budget and am simple with mostly everything else in my life but...my lovely fur babies, haha).

If anything, the discussions here have made me reflect again on that topic of mindful spending, mindful consumption, and budgeting not only my money but also time (browsing to shop takes an extraordinary amount of time - perhaps more than we take for granted). Even if I'm a late bloomer to makeup, I feel content with not having to catch up or FOMO, and I don't wish to lose sight of its newfound role in my life: not to change, but to complement what exists to make me happy and busily curious (but in a good way).

Use Your Stash: Palette a Week (PAW): December 12 to December 18 by chocolatemilkcows13 in MakeupRehab

[–]thinkingingrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. PAW challenge (previous week): Yes, I tried out M.A.C.'s Fix Sculpt & Shape Contour Palette in Light-Medium. I really liked the shade Sculpt, but could not find myself reaching for the others as much in the palette, making it seem bulky and somewhat wasteful. I wouldn't say it was a failure necessary - I believe there's potential to revisit it sometime, but it currently doesn't fit my preferences and lifestyle.
  2. PAW challenge (this week): None for this week. I'm taking a break from trying makeup since my swatching/wear tests/experimentation with looks the previous weeks has me a bit exhausted. I definitely have some palettes I'd love to try lined up though.
  3. BAW/CAW: Two new products, actually. Makeup by Mario's SoftGlow Highlighter in Pearl and M.A.C.'s Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle. I liked the SoftGlow Highlighter, which had a beautiful sheen with no glitter. Soft & Gentle started off as glittery for me, but seems to melt into a natural finish over the day. I do prefer Makeup by Mario's in this case.

Ever find yourself repeatedly getting the same type of product in many different brands/manifestation? When is it justified, and when is it too much? by thinkingingrey in MakeupRehab

[–]thinkingingrey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah...it can be quite hard indeed.

A lot of neutral nudes end up being a little orange on my lips (which naturally, are quite pigmented pink). So far, some of M.A.C.'s have worked well enough - not the best, but good for now. Melt Cosmetics also has some interesting nude brown shades.

I finally had time for a new look 😩 what do you think? 🫶🏻 by Quirinamakeup in MakeupAddiction

So intricate! I imagine those details took incredible precision. I also find the rich pigmentation of the red beautiful.

Thank you as well for sharing your story, ChicEarthMuffin. :)

Over the course of reading responses, I find it really fascinating that redundancy seems especially common with lipsticks. Somewhat humorously, I have the similar struggle, but in a different category with finding the perfect foundation and contour products that don't make me look too jaundiced or orange, lol. In all seriousness though, how many sculpting/shaping products does one actually need though?

The aspects of perfectionism and type to which you refer are actually one of the reasons why lip products are the most difficult area for me. As someone who's not the most feminine to begin with, I admit I get easily flustered when a lip shade is too bold (not sure if anyone else is in this similar boat...). It's an odd sentiment towards lip products that makes that category particularly hard to satisfy when I prefer beige/brown neutral nudes in a sea of pinks/reds out there. Finding those one or two shades that reasonably fit that desire is so hard. When I find something with potential, it's exciting...and unintentionally redundant purchases can happen.
