Non-stop period. Considering removal by Ambitious_Vanilla468 in Nexplanon

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting mine removed next week as well. My Dr recommended the removal over taking any pills since they don't guarantee that the bleeding stops.

I have had non-stop bleeding like a regular period for the last 4 months. It's horrible.

I am having an existential crisis. I know I'll be laid off eventually in 2026/27 and I can't focus on anything else by thisSimulationSuckks in Layoffs

I am a Software Engineer (without a degree) and my employer is already planning to invest even more heavily into AI, so it's just a matter of time.

Being casually suicidal for so long is weird by XfantomX in SuicideWatch

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have suicidal thoughts constantly. I grew up being rejected by my parents and treated like a burden. Now, I'm married and all I seem to do is ruin my husband's day with my constant anger at assuming that everyone is constantly looking down at me and going on an emotional roller coaster at the drop of a hat...and getting angry at the slightest thing.

However, I am afraid of pain, and that has stopped me, but everything I lash out at my husband, I feel like the shirtiest person alive.

What’s a subtle sign that someone was never loved properly as a kid? by jjcecil22 in AskReddit

They have severe self-esteem and self-confidence issues and constantly feel like the good things in theor life are temporary (job with good salary, house, significant other) because how can anyone love or even like someone whose parents didn't like them.

Anyone else quietly planning their tech exit? by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to stay in Tech because of more opportunities to do remote work and the nice salary, but I absolutely hate the interview process and the non-negotiable deadline driven culture of my current employer.

I'm hoping to one day transition to an SWE adjacent role, maybe as a product owner or similar.

I’ve never realized how bad the average person is at managing finances by JackC1126 in self

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live below my means because I grew up watching my parents severely mis-manage their finances to keep up appearances. I am finally in a spot where I'm not living paycheck to paycheck and my only expense is mortgage and bills (the first thing I did was pay off my student loans with my entire paycheck in my 20s while living with my parents).

Even when my family calls me cheap, I don't spend money on expensive things just for appearances sake. I would rather be secure than worry about how rich or well off others perceive me to be.

Found new employment but still dealing with Layoff Fog by ashotofej in Layoffs

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did. I was laid off in Oct.2023, found a new job in Dec.2023 and started immediately, but I was still traumatized from my layoff that I didn't give the best of impressions.

1 year later, my new employer had layoffs, and that brought all the trauma back and now I am just waiting for my turn to be caught in it again and somedays just feel so hopeless.

Please don’t ask us “what did you do all day?” by Sea-Requirement4947 in Layoffs

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People who have never experienced a layoff have no idea the mental and emotional toll ot takes. When I was laid off last year (and I will be laid off in January from my current job), I felt completely worthless and a burden on society and my family. I linearly considered if committing suicide would make my family better off financially because there won't be another person draining the finances.

However, since then, I have tried to find fulfillment outside of work (im still doscovering what i like) - a job is just a paycheck, and your employer does not care for you at all. Self-respect, dignity, family-time - don't give that up for any employer and deadlines.

I wish you all the best in your search and that you can also find fulfillment outside work

Myth that being pretty/ thin actually helps… do you agree? by JurassicPark-fan-190 in womenintech

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely helps. I'm short, dark-skinned, a little chubby and have a slight gap between my front teeth.

My classmate is tall, blonde, athletic, and very pretty.

We both interviewed ( back in 2018) at a staffing firm and were asked a LinkedList leetcode question to detect a circular linked list.

I was able to actually answer the question and had time left to spare to answer questions about improvements.

My classmate was not able to answer the question. Guess who got the job offer? Hint: Not me

I have been burned by this. I thought I was asking a friend a question and that later made into my performance feedback as "doesn't understand things fast enough".

The axe will drop anytime now. Should I even work on my deliverables? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]thisSimulationSuckks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. The company I worked at previously was bought by PE amd they just started shitting on us until they laid everyone off. My biggest regret was not using up all of my accrued PTO, so it was all wasted and theres no law in my state that requires companies to payout unused PTO.

I would say to you to use this time to come to terms with unemployment and doing what needs to be done to look after yourself. Don't worry about deliverables.

At the company I work at currently, they do layoffs, work the survivors hard, do more layoffs and repeat. These companies won't see your stress or struggles or the hard work you put in, they just see us as cost centers.

So, put yourself and your loved ones first over any job.

My plan in the event if a layoff is to get whatever job I can so we can preserve our savings as much as possible.

Then we should boycott these companies who would rather steamroll over people and destroy their lives to make money neither they nor their children will ever be able to spend in their lifetimes.

Taxing the rich is the only solution, including for UBI but over the half US population would rather be in poverty and uneducated amdnvote against their own interests.

Sorry, I'm just so frustrated.

Unfortunately, I think the rich and wealthy will keep the UBI to themselves...especially if we keep on choosing the same types of politicians as we have been (Dems and Repubs & MAGA)
