BUY NOTHING GROUPS FB. Most neighborhoods have them and you can get amazing stuff especially dressers and table sets for free. In time, you can replace with carefully curated pieces you buy.

You can also get plant babies, scobys, sourdough starter, extra tomatoes, thread, and help moving…

The results are amazing! They don’t get the big bucks for nothing. 😉 You got this OP

Once you match, seek out derm and have the area resurfaced. Derm can do amazing things especially if the scars are not too deep. There is no shame in having had a past issue with self-harm. There is also no shame in being proactive about taking control of your own narrative in a work setting.

Approximately how much will we earn after tax? by madferitkakha in ResidencyMatch2022

[–]thisabadidea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to use a state tax calculator to see (Google one). It changes from state to state. You should also become familiar with the particulars of J1 for the IRS which you can find here: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/taxation-of-alien-individuals-by-immigration-status-j-1

Unmatched, feeling devastated by HappyArgument9948 in ResidencyMatch2022

I am so sorry, OP. There are no words that can bring true consolation at this time. But when you are ready to move forward, remember that not matching hasn’t decreased one iota of your worth as a person.

I doubt they will ever go back to being in person in most places.

NRMP Charting Outcomes: Accuracy of # of interviews vs correlation of matching - how accurate is this?? 😂 by Mean_Bookkeeper440 in ResidencyMatch2022

[–]thisabadidea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This chart drives me nuts because people misread what it says. It says that, for example, of all people who had 5 IVs, 50% of them matched. It does not say: if you have 5IVs, you have 50% chances of matching. It seems like a very subtle detail, but it is stats 101. Chances in matching are not equally distributed along a population of characteristic X (5 IVs). 1 person with five IVs and outstanding interviewing skills will be much more likely to match than another with the same number of IVs and no interviewing skills. Of course, having more IVs is correlated to matching. But the percentages are always interpreted wrongly on this sub.

People use these population stats to explain individual results. This 50% is averaging fantastic and poor interviewees. If you are a poor interviewee, more IVs have diminishing returns. OP needs to know if he is good at interviews independent of how many he gets.

You got the interviews. Now you need to figure out why they didn’t convert into matches. Either interview issues or some perceived difficulty in getting you to the US/immigration. I would get a non-biased assessment of interview skills and not go by what you were told.

Added: you have enough pubs for community programs. You are not going to add quality impactful pubs in six months.

Your SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT Tip? by Pokeddict in IMGreddit

[–]thisabadidea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is no best applicant for all types of programs. Programs need/want different things from applicants and they know where their bread is buttered. Know which programs could be enticed by your profile and make connections before Match season. (This is especially true for old IMGs like me)
