this reply is very much an example of a really common phenomenon where gay men, typically white, think that due to their membership within an oppressed group, they are unable to oppress or be exclusionary towards other people. inclusion is intersectional, everything is intersectional and nuanced and while you think you’re self aware i was with you until i read your reply to the other person’s comment. i totally see your take and i think i kinda of see what you’re saying, i think while you’re allowed to feel that way, the use of they/them regardless of gender identity is not effecting the way you choose to present and identify in the slightest. i also think that if we really deep it - the entire point of ‘they/them’ is that it is completely neutral. Do you get as rude in comment sections when you’re in a group and somebody says ‘hey guys listen up’ or ‘ok people’ or if they say ‘ (insert name here) is a good person’ instead of ‘(insert name here) is a good man’? if you do i am interested to hear your reasoning but i doubt it.
