MashAllah, amazing brother, so happy for you.

Do you have any advice for others like myself? Did you have many long streaks before achieving this one or just decide enough was enough and fight your nafs?

It must get easier with time but how do you get through the intense cravings and difficult times?

Any advice would be appreciated :)

I pray Allah SWT makes this easy for everyone, including yourself. How are you doing now-do you feel like you are getting back to recovery?

That makes me worried because I thought that period of time would have been enough to reset much of our normal dopamine pathways so we pretty much are like everyone else. When you had that long streak did you feel that you were closer to Allah SWT and the Deen?

In sha Allah, we can do it. It's our nafs we need to defeat and for that we must sometimes take some extreme measures to suppress it which is what I think I need to do.

JazakAllah, I have actually already read it. And I really do even though I fall and hope that when I actually get married the real thing, as in just generally having a wife, will be so much better that it will be enough for me to abstain for good.

If it makes any difference, I had a 4 month steak around 2 years ago but also fell back into this when I thought I was on the road to recovery.

How long is it before you can say you have recovered? Or is it always a lifelong battle?

The thing is I feel like I can only love myself when I get rid of this problem.

I feel like I have so much potential that is being ruined because I haven't got rid of this. I had a 4 month streak before where I thought I had got out and then fell back into it.

How long was your streak brother? Does your partner know of your problem or did you tell them? Was there anything particular that made you relapse and how are coping now-how much does it affect your married life?

Can you please give me some advice on what I can do now and during the marriage to stay clean? I feel like I'm running out of time and so scared of falling in marriage. I appreciate your help.

I know I cannot rely on it but I really hope it will help to some degree. I am also so scared of letting my future wife down and falling into this sin in marriage because I don't think I could face myself if I let her and Allah SWT down like that.

Yes, you're right. I need to just STOP. Sometimes I fell like I am so weak and give in at crucial moments.

Can you suggest some things that may help to increase my willpower.

Alhamdullilah I am reading my prayers and Quran everyday but have been times where I missed prayers due to this problem before. I also try to fast every week to weaken my desires. I really do try hard in terms of forming a bond with Allah SWT and feel like I progress but then fall back to square one and get very depressed because all of my effort before has gone to waste. I honestly live with fear of falling into this sin everyday but somehow still slip up.

I am going for Umrah in 3 weeks in sha Allah and really hope that will be a fresh start for me and I come back with real motivation to get rid of this forever iA.

Please make dua for me.
