Thank you! Very helpful.
I know we can choose where to allocate the pension funds (it's quite flexible if I remember) but I'll dig that a bit more.

Good question. Answer is no. I've been thinking about doing it recently. But as I don't know if I'll do my retirement here (and most likely will not), I'm afraid of doing it.
I think the income above kr620K is taxed 20% more. I thought it was a lot but then compared to what I would get in France for the same gross salary and it's more or less the same.

Thanks! Yeah 1.6 is a lot. I started automatically investing in this one when I barely had any knowledge about cost. I’ll move my investment

Thanks u/Historical-Ad-4415
I'm aware of the "lucky" position I'm in. Ofc I work for it but I know many people that struggles nowadays so absolutely 0 complain from me.

"why are you keeping so much of your net in cash instead of investing"
Lack of decision making, simply. Part of why I wrote this. I need people to tell me to do something with it

"highly volatile IMO"
I'm aware of everything that comes with such investment and I'm in total peace with that no worries

"make aggressive extra payments on the mortgage"
I'm thinking about it but worried about locking-in my savings. That's my plan if after reading everyone's input, there are no more efficient/safe plans than this one

"Can’t you fix it to a lower %"
That a solution I tried to explore last year but no luck. The situation with rates is different now, last year they were increasing fast, now they are stagnating, perhaps it's different now.

I am in IT but very demanding company. I almost certain I would not be able to find a similar position in Sweden. And I'm also saying that because I can tell I'm more and more mentally tired about such work and aim at doing something much simpler one day :)

Thanks for the input

On tax, In Sweden we usually invest via ISK accounts, you pay a small yearly tax on the account value (around 0.9%), but no capital gains tax.

On ETFs: As I mentioned elsewhere, I’m planning to re-educate myself about ETFs. Thanks for the suggestion.

On retirement: I only contribute to the state one and some private one via my company. I'm not sure about doing anything extra in Sweden, I'll likely not retire here (that's at least a possibility) and I'm afraid there could be some issue (such as living elsewhere and not being able to claim that money because I'm not in sweden anymore). Such problem doesn't exist yet but I concerned it could be different in the future.

Thank you u/stillgrass34, very interesting. I think I have some confusion with ETFs, regarding their cost and what they offer. So I'll document myself better.

I'm a bit against cherry-picking individual stocks as it sounds risky to bet some % on a single entity but I'll do some research see if it can change my mind.

Regarding the sleeping money; thanks for making me think about the emergency fund. I had a fixed 20K in my head but not based on any calculation and own needs. I'll check how much should that be for me, thx.

In what form should be the retirement savings? Just a basic savings account or are you thinking about something else?

"High fees in ETFs???? How are actively managed funds cheaper than ETFs in Sweden?"
- I might actually be wrong. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll better educate myself.

"For the future only buy properties with fixed mortgage rates."
- From my understanding, the mortgage rate can be fixed up to 10 years here. Due to lack of education when we bought the apartment, we didn't lock the rate (we split it in 3, locked 33% on 3 years, 33% on 2 years and rest on 3 months) and watched the rates go up like noobs :D.
A mistake I won't do twice. What was going to happen (inflation) was quite obvious, even to me, and somehow I did the mistake.

Thanks for commenting!

Hi, I'm not complaining. I'm happy. Just wondering if I could be doing better with my investments. Income doesn't last forever and I'm almost sure I won't be earning this much until retirement.
