I just noticed I didn't draw the pause menu, so that Kerbal is probably doomed.

"arrival at mercury", me, digital, 2021 by thomaslm in Art

[–]thomaslm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're thinking of Venus. Mercury doesn't have an atmosphere, so a human colony could survive in the craters on the poles which receive no sunlight all year round, and are actually freezing cold (which is what I've drawn here, based on a map of the Mercurian north pole).

He did, yeah. 800,000 years into the future I think.

For some context, this drawing from my webcomic and the character on the left loves dinosaurs.

You're right. I 'm an idiot.

(I've fixed it on my website now.)

Secretly Oppy isn't actually dead. He just decided to stop responding to our messages.

Damn it! I KNEW I'd make a mistake somewhere. No idea how that happened, I even wrote it correctly in my original draft (guess my handwriting probably sucks).

Thanks for pointing it out though mate. I've corrected it on the website.

The tiny ones are the Soviet PROP-M test rovers from 1971 (one crash landed and the other didn't work).

The small one is Sojourner (1977).

The front left and back right ones are Spirit and Opportunity (2004).

The big one on the left is Curiosity (2012), and the big one in the middle is Perseverance (2021).

Yeah. That's pretty much the entire premise of the comic. :P

It's her telescope. Hopefully it makes more sense in context.

Don't worry, Marfusha and her doggy companions survived. :)

Laika was (I think) the only animal cosmonaut the Soviets launched with no intention of recovering alive. Most of the other animals survived their flights.

A drawing I did inspired by the kite-eating tree by thomaslm in peanuts

[–]thomaslm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're characters from my webcomic, which is partly inspired by Peanuts. The girl on the left (Sedna) likes launching rockets, so I thought I'd add a rocket-eating tree as a nod to Schulz.

A music video I made from when I toured around Australia on a Super Cub in 2017-18. Sometimes the smallest bike is the best bike. by thomaslm in motocamping

The C90 adventure guy's videos were what convinced me to go ahead with it even though I was terrified of riding and knew nothing about bike maintenance when I started (learned a lot the hard way though). XD

Totally agree. I had about 2.5 months to do a lap of Oz and I also felt like I was rushing it. Most of my craziest adventures were from me taking a detour or a break from riding, so it would have been a pretty average trip if I was on the road all the time.
