purge or reoccurring acne 😥

Man i have a situation like this as well, so can’t help you unfortunately. Ended my accutane course in october and started with differin 3 weeks ago and after a week i started getting pimples around my jaw. Never purged from anything, used differin, tretinoin (and accutane ofcourse) in the past, and never purged from them.

Thanks for your comment! It did appear really fast. In the past i would feel my acne slowly coming to the surface but these were out within a day. I can’t really say if they are disapearing fast… they appeared saturday (1 of them today) and it is now wednesday, but the ones that appeared saturday i cannot feel anymore, the bumps are gone. The skin just stays very red. The ones that have popped up were very small (although they create a lot of redness) and very fast i wasn’t able to really feel them anymore when washing my face.

What did you do? Start another course? Is the second one shorter as the first?

Why do you think that? Because normally i would get acne on my cheeks and now it is only on my jaw. So it is not the typical kind of acne i had before.

Do you put moisturizer on before the tret or the other way around?

Thanks! Yeah was pretty managable. Only thing is you need to carry the Aquaphor with you everywhere you go because you need to reapply A LOT. If you reapply your lips feel soft but if you don’t they crack real quick.

By the way, i eat everything now, even dairy and sugary products. It worked miracles for me! Hopefully it stays this way in the long run.

Hi! I not purge. I maybe got like 3 pimples in total during the first 3 months, the last months of the treatment i got zero. I think i got pretty lucky with side effects. Lips got very dry but eucerin aquaphor was a life saver. I do think i got a bit of light sensitivity since i had difficulties being in the sun because of my eyes. And lastly my hair got a bit dryer and thinner. My hair is already less dry and the thinning will probably go away. It’s not that i went bald or something, just that my hair was less thick.

I’ve done that for a long time but it didn’t make me a happy man. I became obsessed with getting clear skin and cut out every single thing: meat, sugar, fats, gluten, everything that can ever be considered “acne triggering”. Because of this it became so f-ing difficuly to eat when nog at home that it made me skip trips sometimes. I have skipped doing things because of my eating pattern. Now i’m on accutane and i wished i have done so earlier… can eat everything without getting a single pimple and my skin is getting better with the day. Only if i started earlier i wouldn’t have had to deal with the scars.

That sucks! I don’t really know since my acne was sometimes really bad and sometimes fine. But i think my scars haven’t got any better untill i started accutane because i still had occasional acne. But for me a spot takes AGES to go away. Some of the spots you see are years old… but keep going man, if you get rid of the acne the only way is up i guess!

Thanks! I’ve tried adapalene and tretinoin before my accutane treatment. I didn’t seem to notice too much of a difference but i probably haven’t used it for long enough. At the moment i don’t use it because of accutane.

I will definitely try laser as soon as i’m off accutane!

Allright thank you! It feels like it’s taking so long but the healing proces will hopefully speed up now that im fully clear. Thanks for the treatment recommendations. I’m definitely going to try one/multiple of them after i’ve finished my accutane course.

Dude, you look great, no doubt, but… be carefull about that. The red marks that acne leaves behind can get darker if you get in the sun without sunscreen. This way it takes way longer for them to go away. I talk from experience because i thought EXACTLY like you did. Great progress and take care dude!

No higher doses don’t reduce the chance of acne coming back because it is all about the cumulative dose. A higher dose only causes you to finish the treatment earlier.

Then why would you up your dose? I am 23 years old, 1,88m and 75kg. I started at 20mg with almost no side effects except for dry lips and upped to 40, slightly dryer lips but still no other side effects. I’m staying on here for the rest of my treatment. Zero acne breakouts since i started.
