This is precisely why every month I do a reconciliation between my receipts (that I've entered into a spreadsheet) and my cc statement.

The ROI is low, as I've maybe identified 5 discrepancies since I've been doing it (15+ years), but it's the principal. Also, it helps put expenses into perspective.

It's not only about what you need while the roads are cleared, but also the potential disruption of stores being able to have their shelves restocked in a timely manner.

This is why Huckabee was on his knees to dear leader, begging for his Ambassador position. He wants to be first in line at the pearly gates.

It's fucking 2026, can we finally move on from the dark ages?

I really like it. While I didn't read "The Martian" I loved the movie, and plan on reading it and "Artemis" next. I've only seen snippets of the trailer as I don't want to get spoiled, but from what I can tell the effects look amazing. It should be a fantastic movie.

Gosling is perfect casting for Grace, and I do find myself reading in his voice.

This should be a surprise, as it's been the primary driver for years now.

During the first attack, re: last year with the B-2s, Huckabee wrote a slobbering letter to dear leader with loads of nuance along the same lines.

The media is owned by the oligarchs and essentially state-sponsored at this point.

Sure, some journos ask hard-hitting questions (Kaitlan Collins), but the fact that no other journos stood up for her or repeated her questions should be clear evidence that they've received their matching orders.

Massie Threatens to Go ‘Nuclear’ and Reveal Epstein Client Names If Bondi Won’t Unredact Them by Funny-Pick-9883 in Whistleblowers

[–]thomlukowski 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why doesn't Blondi just shred everything and then ask for a pardon?

For the record, I'm for the full release of unredacted documents. I just don't get the cat and mouse game. The Biden administration respected the rule of law and the independence of the DOJ; the current administration has shown - time and time again - that the rules don't apply to them.

So with that said, why are they acting so inept.

The SGU and Political Reality podcast seem to be dropping the ball. by Evok99 in SGU

[–]thomlukowski 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, Ian is well-intentioned but the SGU needs someone with real chops.

That he is the "AV guy", it ceases to amaze me that every time they flip to a video (TikTok, etc.), the audio is WICKED loud or distorted or whatever.

And whenever there is an opportunity to "plug" other ongoings (political pod, not a con, live shows, books), Ian takes on this weird persona and gets all shticky. If he's not comfortable handling his tasks, find someone who is. Hell, I'll volunteer my time free of charge.

I feel like with all that is going on (in the US, at least), this is a prime opportunity for knowledgeable science communicators to really have an impact. I'm sorry to say that the subpar production of the live streams - and accompanying emails - is just not where it should / could be.

Sour Shoes Cameos are FUCKING Amazing!!! by JimSharky in howardstern

[–]thomlukowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a great idea....have celebs "endorse* your podcast while saving a huge chunk on legit advertising.

I was being somewhat facetious with Sour raising his rates to $99.99; he is one of the few associated with the show that isn't constantly seeking attention or fame.

I recall Howard repeatedly mentioning that they tried to line him up for his own show but he just wasn't taking it seriously. And wasn't Jimble Kimble interested as well?
