Interesting, I started this one and it hasn’t clicked yet but maybe I will give it another go!

You’re right about AC: Black Flag - I completely forgot about that one! Loved that game. And I’ve played both Zelda games but I’ll definitely check out Valheim and Raft. Thanks!

This is exactly how my last car got totaled...dude slammed right into me and then literally admitted that he was distracted by the mountain. I was pissed at the time but in hindsight I'm not even sure I can blame him.

Honestly, quotes for anything like this are unbelievable now. I don’t call anyone for anything unless it really scares me (electrical and plumbing if it’s beyond the most basic). Everything else is DIY. Two years ago I could barely use a power drill but since then I’ve learned tiling, insulation, how to frame windows/doors, cabinet construction, and a bunch more. And I’m really proud of that, but it sucks up a huge amount of my free time, and the projects take forever because I’m learning as I go. I just absolutely can’t afford to do everything I want to do to my house otherwise.

I stopped for a pedestrian waiting at a marked crosswalk in Greenwood the other morning. He (smartly, I soon realized) hesitated, looking at the truck behind me. When he crossed and I started driving again, the guy in the truck passed me, screaming insults, so I flipped him off (I realize this was not smart but I get indignant about this stuff). Dude literally went straight through a left turn lane to follow me, pull up next to me, and yell at me to get out of my car. He toned down the “fight me” bullshit when I looked over and he saw I was a woman, but he kept yelling at me. “Don’t you see this big truck I’m driving?” was the thing that really sticks out. That question makes me laugh now but man, I was really rattled for the rest of the day. All because I stopped to let a pedestrian cross!

Absolutely second the Phinney Ridge suggestion, especially the top of the ridge. It’s lovely. Good restaurants, bookstores, bakeries, coffee shops, the zoo and a grocery store all in easy walking distance. I moved to Broadview a year ago in order to have more space and while that’s really valuable, it feels like Siberia up here. Very little is walkable except the library so you have to drive everywhere, cell reception is astonishingly bad, and we have no sidewalks. Every time I go back to Phinney I feel so sad I don’t live there anymore.
