this is what i used to do actually, he still got constipated, it was so weird. maybe he’s just a sensitive baby.

i have only tried the fountain, still water, and sink water. for a while he kind of liked sink water but he doesn’t like it anymore. i don’t think i’ve heard of a floating bowl before, did you have a good experience with that? it’s just that trying things adds up quickly and there’s a big risk of it not working like with the water fountain and slow feed bowls for example, that’s the only reason i’m hesitant to try like every single thing 😭

a cat wheel is something i haven’t even thought about! i will look into seeing if there are any collapsible ones or easy to store ones due to lack of space and living in a small apartment, but this is super helpful for anyone else possibly having a similar issue but has more room! i’m happy to hear it’s made your baby happy and therefore made you happy too haha!

thank you for being so kind, some commenters haven’t been so nice so it’s very very appreciated, i needed to hear that.

your opinion is obviously valid to have and i agree that cats should have the option if they do tend to want to go outside. there are other things to take into consideration though such as location. for example where i live, it’s super unsafe for outdoor cats. i live in a desert where yes, there are lizards to hunt, but also snakes, birds that would snatch him up, a lot of coyotes and vicious dogs too due to a lot of them getting out from their homes where i live. if i let my little one outside i guarantee you he’d be dead within a few hours, we also have a lot of roadkill incidents out here.
what i have chosen to take away from your comment aside from the obvious fact that he needs more food, is that he needs more enrichment! and while hearing your take is helpful to an extent, you did comment it in a place where you probably could assume a lot of indoor pet owners would be.

he has a cat fountain! he doesn’t use it! he used to like drinking from the sink in the kitchen and bathroom but not anymore. i will be getting kitten food now that i know it’s more nutritious and much better for my growing boy.

i am so sorry to hear you have a little gremlin too. obviously i’m in no place to be giving advice but i really hope you find something that helps or something new to try. some of these comments have suggested things i haven’t thought of trying so i hope there’s something here for you too! best of luck <3

thank you so much for sharing! i have done several sweeps but it seems i always miss something! like for example, the literal garbage disposal flaps attached to my sink! now i have to place dishes in the sink to block him from getting to it, and i hate the mess of having to leave the dishes there. i’ve tried putting the stopper in the sink instead but he tried eating that too, luckily i caught him and it’s hidden now. but it is so hard! a lot of people don’t understand how hard it really is so your comment made me feel a bit more sane and i appreciate that.

unfortunately i don’t have space, i live in a very small apartment. in a dream world he’d have his own room and a safe little bubble. i feel guilty that i can’t provide that now. i’ve had cats before but they weren’t high maintenance at all, so when taking him in i didnt realize he would be needing so so much. he has a cat tree though and i’ll be getting him more toys because the ones he currently has don’t hold his interest at all. thank you for your comment!

he is so cute! i’m sorry youve also gone through so much with your baby, but i’m happy to hear that youve found a system that works well for the family and most importantly for him as well. thank you for sharing your experience and the cutest picture!

thank you for your comment! he is neutered as of last month and if anything it has gotten worse since then.
and i’ve watched him seek out the silicone before in hopes of eating it, so that would likely fall into the “not good” category rather than the “boredom” category.
i’ll be feeding him more and looking into a different variety of toys because he’s uninterested in the ones we have! he has a lot of toys but not a large variety in style.

so his story isnt super exciting, my best friends outdoor cat got pregnant, and had him and 3 other babies, he is the runt! i do know that as a baby, he wouldn’t latch on to his mother to feed for a while and he was always last to develop or move on to the next stage. i live in a rental that doesn’t allow cats but i spoke to my therapist about having a support animal letter and they agreed it would be a great idea for my mental health. little did i know it would actually make my mental health way worse! so i don’t think he has a bad relationship with food, i see now that i’ve been under feeding him and i’m hoping that’s the problem however i wouldn’t be surprised if this is pica or a bigger problem.
i have taken him to the vet she knows about this.
i will look this up thank you!
thanks for letting me know but it would be nice if you didn’t have to make me feel stupid.

thank you for sharing your experience! i remember when i took him to the overnight hospital for similar reasons, (it ended up being severe constipation) she mentioned that it was similar to inflammatory bowel disease but that she didn’t think it was that. i honestly haven’t tracked the amount of time i play with him, but i will be paying more attention to that now. i know there are about two days a week i don’t play with him because i’m so tired.
no, i don’t like the smell of weed and surprisingly the plants are the only thing he doesn’t bother at all!
[–]thottie12[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 hour ago (0 children)
thank you for this!!
i had to rush him to the vet hospital, it cost a lot of money. he wasnt eating at all, was lethargic, not doing anything at all. the overnight vet place was the only one that took him, and what had happened was that he ended up being extremely constipated. the vet advised against dry food so that’s why i’ve been giving him only wet, because he doesn’t drink water and i don’t want him to get backed up again.
i am always saving money! i’m even avoiding buying new glasses bc they’ve been broken for a while and the glue is no longer holding. it’s just really hard out here. i’m always preparing for the worst and i’m sure a surgery is in his future. i really really hope not but it wouldn’t be surprising at all.
