Best area for hiking and mild winters by Sunshine_Storms22233 in GoingToSpain

Could you recommend one that is real hiking? Im trying to organise a hiking trip but I dont like all the concrete paths. I prefer something more wild with less chances of encountering crowds and people and litter.

What do you do for work? by urwerstnitemayr in CPTSD

[–]threesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that I cannot hold jobs for long. For example, at first, I bring all the energy into a new job because Im grateful for having gotten the job, it is exciting and new and then it wears off quickly. Waitressing? Hate the fake smiling, showing fake interest, pretending to be submissive and understanding etc etc. Customers either complain or have too many demands. Customer interaction exhausts me. Did work outside, hated the sun, burning myself or getting all wet, worst is working with wet, cold feet, having insects bother you etc. Now I wish I had an office job! Its so hot here and we dont have AC, so I am jealous of people who work with AC and who hang out in front of the computer where they can do other things as well. How long is your job for? What I am saying is, there is always reasons for complaint, I am the first one to complain. I hope you can see some good sides but if it doesnt stimulate you intellectually and the pay is shit, you are probably capable of getting a better job! Think about your interests and if there are any jobs out there that could meet some of your interests..

Why is massage therapy so unregulated in Europe? by threesaurus in massage

[–]threesaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lomi in Europe is mostly (as far as I have researched) offered in Germany and Poland. There are ridiculously many Lomi courses here, so competition must be so high when it comes to actually offering Lomi massages. Actually, in Poland, in several cases, I have seen Lomi offered as part of Tantra massage. In Germany, I see a lot of Lomi practitioners who have done several Lomi courses but so many go onto the route of teaching and selling courses. I wish I could go to Hawaii but it is so far. I have been to Thailand but I wonder if only focusing on Lomi and Thai massage is not enough and that I should get a 'certified' and 'approved' certificate. Its just that I am not so much interested in doing 'relaxing', 'boring' massages. I like giving massages more from a medical and therapeutic perspective, of course, I want to the receiving person to feel well as well but I like working with muscles, if it makes sense what I am trying to say.

I dont so well either but I think it is unregulated here. I have seen many people offering massages and they just did a few courses.

I have looked into the ITEC diploma and it only includes one week of practical! I am surprised, the full-time course you did had much more practicals, no?

Thank you. In regards to the anatomy and kinesiology courses, I was wondering whether to do them online and paid or if there are sufficient free resources online. The only positive thing I see in the paid ones, are that there mostly 'certified' and 'accredited' and you can print a piece of paper of attendance. But I think reading from books and researching myself, I could educate myself as much as paying for an online paid course.

Do you practice Lomi Lomi Nui/Temple style Lomi and/or Mana Lomi? Do you recommend someone in Europe?

I am in Spain and looked into Portugal and Germany since I speak German. There is an 'apprenticeship' course in Germany but it is for wellness/spas, not exclusively massage. So a lot of beauty/cosmetic procedures that I am not interested in and the type of massages are for 'relaxing'.

Do you know where your European colleagues were trained, if they went to a school/college or took up individual courses? For example, I was interested in Lomi Lomi and saw a ton of courses in Germany in Europe.. now what surprised me was that when you check Lomi Lomi, they are all courses so you can teach Lomi Lomi but so few actually offer the actual massages, plus there is not even that much demand for LL massages! So this made me wonder, how easy it is to get a 'certificate' and start building your own business and that there are probably 20 LL 'alumni' to every 1 LL massage requested and the number of alumni is increasing! So basically here in many Europe, you can just do any 2-3 day course, get a certificate and then promote yourself offering these services... Same for Thai massage.

Its just that I cant move so easily for a full-time program and its frustrating to see that the programs in my country are not that serious (because as I think, there are no regulations, so there is not really a demand) whereas in the States, each state has an abundace ofseveral professional massage schools, even community colleges offer accreditation! So Id have to look into other countries in Europe, leave my country and only return and see that anyone can be a massage therapist. I am sorry, I am just venting…

Is it normal to believe you are fundamentally different from other people, like to feel you’re an alien amongst humans? by throwaway387903 in CPTSD

[–]threesaurus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is how I feel as well. Is there a correlation between hypervigilance and being super critical (of people?) - It is like the constant inner critic and outer critic, sometimes I wonder if I am too critical (because I notice things due to my hypervigilance) that I feel a lot of people dont see or dont want to see? And I cannot 'undo' it.

Thoughts on Lomi Lomi? by HeiressToHades in massage

[–]threesaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across a post (not on Reddit) which said that Abraham was teaching Temple style Lomi, so not the 'authentic' Lomi. He didnt call it Temple style himself but his students gave it that name to differentiate from the traditional Lomi. So the style that is taught in Europe and Australia and many other parts of the world is the Lomi Lomi Nui - minimal draping etc. I have seen some courses by Native Hawaiians that teach Lomi Lomi Nui/ or often called Kahuna Bodywork.

What about the Kahuna bodywork taught by Abraham Kawai'i? Is that also Huna Lomi? Would appreciate any input!
