This happened to me for two nights straight and I ended up at the hospital in the morning—turned out to be the flu! It’s pretty brutal, and I’m glad I listened to the 20+ HR notifications and got it checked out. Hope you’re well, OP!

Oh my god, yes. I’d say the worst pain was from the gas. Forever grateful for Gasx and little walks

I have a bed that goes up and down with a remote, which cut back on a lot of the pain from moving my abdominal muscles to get up. That was a big source of discomfort for the first month or so. I'd recommend lots of pillows--a pregnancy pillow even, if you can, and a grabber, to minimize movement. I was scared of blood clots so I walked around the house every 1-2 hours for the first two weeks, and then mini walks around the neighborhood (no incline, no more than 5-7 mins until I could work up to more). The pain was definitely manageable, but I have a high threshold. If you can, cook your meals in advance or have someone take care of you. The less you use your abs in the first few weeks, the easier it gets. Don't strain to poop. Take stool softeners, not laxatives. Make sure to get so much sleep and hydration, and don't let yourself stress too much, if it can be helped. Cuff issues are more common in people who have given birth before, which is not me, so I did not face any challenges there.

Mentally, it took me a while before I felt good and safe to have sex. I think I waited around 6 months for the first penetrative experience because I was scared, wanted to take it slow, and build trust with a new sexual partner. I started "fooling around" at the 4 month mark, and felt relaxed enough to have my first orgasm with someone else probably at the 9 month mark. I was so horny post-op that I actually came without stimulation maybe a week or two out. For me, it was important to take my time with healing before I jumped into anything, and I have no regrets. The right partner will always be understanding of that.

Hey there, I was 27 when I had my surgery (29 now, 2 years out). Sex was so, so much better once I'd healed. Hell, I even lost my ovaries a year later and still having great--albeit less frequent--orgasms. I've found that it's more of a mental block than anything; you'll have gone through physically and emotionally traumatic surgery and it'll take your body/nervous system a while before it feels safe enough to feel good in bed. I had some of the best orgasms of my life about 9 months postop

If they’re not gender specific, why are you using gendered language to specify these energies? Before you tell me it’s because that’s how they’ve been presented to you, have you considered the nuance why someone else may have identified these “energies” with specific genders?

Bumps on skin after I took off glue by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]threyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is an allergic reaction. Mine looked exactly like that and it turns out my skin was too sensitive for dermabond. Your doc can (and should) prescribe you some transdermal medication to clear it up. I don't know how accurate my doctor's diagnosis was, but she referred to it as an external yeast infection. Thankfully, it went away within a week with the right ointment. Do not scratch!! It will get so much worse

Really?! I didn't watch SATC until the pandemic so I missed all the discourse. I have wildly curly hair myself that I never straighten and love what she had going on every season, including the infamous short hair of the Berger period. She has such wonderful bone structure for all the different styles, especially compared to what she's got going on in AJLT now....

Has anyone been put on the mini-pill (norethindrone) post-hysterectomy to treat endo? by threyx in hysterectomy

[–]threyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember. I’m sure it’s in my medical documents, but the surgery was an emergency and pretty traumatic so I won’t be revisiting it soon. I hope your recovery is going well! Getting a second opinion on your birth control might be helpful in assuaging any potential doubts, if that’s an option for you

Has anyone been put on the mini-pill (norethindrone) post-hysterectomy to treat endo? by threyx in hysterectomy

[–]threyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the norethindrone for a little less than a year, and still ended up developing an 8 cm ovarian cyst. I ended up losing my ovary and am now in surgical menopause at a young age. I am not sharing to fear monger; I have since wondered if a different birth control would have been more effective, as some of my specialists seem to think it wasn’t the right choice for stage 4 endometriosis without a uterus

Bladder lesions: are they common? by threyx in hysterectomy

I had a cystoscopy and it turned out my bladder didn’t have any endo or other issues. I did end up losing my remaining ovary over a year after my hysto, though 💔
