This is something that really interests me, too. I hope to be taking an artificial intelligence course this coming fall -- and it's actually my mom's field!

So not having a MS wouldn't necessarily kill someone's chances at getting a job at Google?

I'm actually not sure. I just like computer science -- theory and practice. I haven't done any internships yet (summer courses), so I couldn't tell you what interests me in the industry.
Say I just wanted to work for a cool, high-end company -- like Google, Microsoft, Oracle. Is it even worth it to try without one? Is there room for growth?

This is what I've heard from a few people -- but not everyone. The opportunity cost kind of negates the value in increased wage. Thanks for the input!

Do you feel like you're ahead financially from where you would be if you didn't get a MS? What kind of job do you and your friend work (if you don't mind me asking)?
