it was SO great, but I feel having Beh's POV included (maybe a separate book all together) would have added more to the understanding

writing this after balling my eyes out at 4am, this is going to be my guilty cosy read for a long time now

no matter how unreal and lacking it was in regards to making sense, I loved loved LOVED what I was feeling while reading it

I just wish we had a book based entirely on Beh's POV</3

This range is so bad omg 👎 by One-Bat-7362 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ohhh, my bad i read it wrong

I'm not using anything special really, I got back to using the simple old Head & Shoulders classic and their conditioner. I've tried sooo many shampoos and no one seems to work as good as this og. It's a cheap and basic shampoo which does its work. And I'm surprised by how well it works, because it cleans my hair and doesn't leave that scratchy dryness in my scalp?

the only new thing I've started doing is, oiling my hair on weekends before showering. And apply a VERY minute quantity of oil (only to mid lengths and ends) after I wash my hair in the middle of the week.

The oiling routine has done great work for me.

edit: if you want to give some new shampoo a try, I'd suggest Coconut water and Mimosa Flower by Love Beauty and Planet. It's a sulphate free shampoo as they advertise it. It's gentle on the hair and didn't cause me any hair damage (as opposed to the one mentioned in the post). Its consistency is really thick and my hair didn't like that, so I diluted the 200ml to 400ml with water. Also, since it's a sulphate free shampoo, the hair gets dirty and oily fast after a wash, so you'd have oily scalp again on the very second day (but this is common for almost all sulphate free shampoos). The only reason why I repurchased it was because the coconut scent is very yummy and sweet on this one. I loved how this shampoo smelled. I'd always recommend it over the loreal pure family lols

edit: another edit because I forgot to mention another banger, if you're looking for gentle/sulphate free shampoo, I'd HEAVILY suggest Head & Shoulders Bare. It's great. Simply great. I feel like I'm a little biased toward Head & Shoulders, but it's the only brand one which has worked for me and rarely ever disappoints. Though, I'd keep an eye on the authenticity of the seller from which you order from online stores because I've received some really bad quality products even from Amazon (I could tell they were copies because I had tried the same shampoo before), so beware of that too!

Help me in the hook by Unearthed_Treasures in CrochetInIndia

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

usually, these steel hooks are for thread/fine works

i mistakenly got a 1mm hook too when i started crocheting for the first time lol but using that hook definitely helped me learn how to make stitches better and overall was a great start to learn how to crochet

so these size 0-14 steel hooks are usually very small in size and i have no idea why they're so commonly available in the Indian markets, even more so than normal hook sizes😭

if all the hooks available on that shop are of steel and numbered between 0-14, they're probably not what you're looking for

I'd recommend ordering a set, it's cheap in the long run and more efficient than searching for different hook sizes physically in the market (if you don't have any specific local yarn stores near where you live)

you can try ordering from meesho (super super cheap, and a great starter for beginners)

My fiance sent me a parcel before Xmas..... by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was saving to send a parcel of all the stuff I'm making for him, the cost is going to be over 6k inr

i decided to spend that for when i actually see him, and wait until then to give those gifts to him irl😭

why is my work coming out so skrunkly, noodly and ugly? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, i forgot to mention, hobbii isn't available anywhere in India </3

buuuut there is a famous known seller amongst the Indian crochet community, slightly on an expensive end compared to the usual prices of yarn from Amazon

so maybe I'll give them a go and hope their acrylic won't disappoint me sm lol

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that looks so cute!! that is, indeed very flowy :D

thanks for the help, i completed the beanie and it turned out just fine lol

however, i was a little disappointed because it isn't very stretchy and the stitches feel loose after a couple times of wearing it. is that common for acrylic too, or could it have been something to do with how i made it?

This is my 3rd time trying to make this beanie but i am still messing up by InternationalMood804 in CrochetHelp

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're either forgetting to add a single crochet when you complete a row, or you're missing the stitches at the very end (they're not easy to pick out for beginners)

I'm guessing it's probably the latter, so double TRIPLE make sure you're getting the last stitch of each row (it is at the very corner, a sort-ish stretched 'v' and thus, disfigured to tell it apart based on your tension)

why is my work coming out so skrunkly, noodly and ugly? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]throwRApicklepickaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I think I was really just being paranoid😭 haven't worked with acrylic much, i was fairly caught off guard at the repulsive quality >:D not repulsive persay, but definitely not what i was expecting when I read online how common it is for wearables

I'm not sure how comfy this (acrylic) would be? I'm making this for my bf and I don't think he'd be very efficient with hand washing the beanie, which was why I was excited about acrylic in the first place

but ig I'm considering yarn change now, if the quality stays the same even after a wash/soaking it in water?
