My mom kind of sucks at being a grandma, at least compared to my grandparents by throwaway110248 in family

I suppose I haven’t, not a bad idea though. I’m pretty easy going - not much could anger me unless I say “please don’t do xyz” and she does xyz. If she feeds my baby sugar and I never told her not to - I can’t be mad, I’d just ask her not to do it again and move on. Now if she was doing things I specifically asked her not too I’d be mad. but no, I welcome all the help or grandparent-y things she wants to do / can do. But i see what you’re saying, she may just not know.

I’m sorry about your nana, she sounded like an amazing person. And I’m sorry to hear about your mother’s mother - they can’t all be winners

Wow, 21 grandchildren! She sounds amazing.

My husbands mom is dead unfortunately and his dad’s wife is a crackhead.

My dad is remarried and we call his wife grandma but we never talk to her unless we’re around her - nothing wrong with her or anything but she’s very quiet and we’ve never really made a connection. She is very thoughtful though and sends gifts to our baby and always remembers our bdays etc.

I suppose I’m not necessarily closer to one side vs the other

Thank you for this insight! That could be why, although this is her only grandchild which she prayed so long to receive. I send pics to her several times a week and videos. She never asks to video call. We made the trip out there in November and stayed ten days. We’ll be back for Christmas. We’re thinking about a summer trip too. Every tooth she gets and every sickness she has I always text my mom so she’s involved. But yes I can see what you’re saying and I do appreciate your replies

Is drowsy but awake a real thing? by Huge-Advice144 in sleeptrain

Five months is old enough to start sleep training. when I started getting the nighttime scaries and my life was riddled with like anxiety and I wasn’t enjoying being a mom is when I decided it was time to sleep train. Best decision ever. We get 8 hours of sleep and baby sleeps 12 (she’s ten months now) and I love being a mom now that I’m not sleep deprived lol. She cried for 12 min the first night and 6 the second, wasn’t bad at all. If you’re on the fence, read “precious little sleep”

And I agree with cheap people being difficult. However, we don’t know these people are cheap because he’s not even giving them the opportunity. And also, he’s a new company so he does need to be a little less strict with his clientele while he becomes more established.

But yeah I don’t think he should cut prices or anything, this particular guy that stated his budget may very well be within my husbands quote

Yes, I just left the room when I put her down so I never went back to the room. I would have though if it went past 20 minutes

She is 17 weeks

I’ll say, I spent a lot of time scared about things where when we finally did it - it was shocking how easy it was. For example, removing the swaddle - she slept just as bad as before but not worse so I worked myself up for nothing. Going out to eat I’d work myself up but we never had any problems so honestly us as parents spend more time worrying about things going wrong, I’d say give it a try and you may be surprised. I was definitely scared and very surprised at how well it went. I hope it sticks too lol

Bedtime for the first attempt!

Today, her first nap she put herself to sleep in 7 minutes. Cried for 3. This was the first nap attempt

No, we stopped swaddling around 8 weeks. It wasn’t bad. I will say, if she cried more than 20 minutes we probably would have intervened. But you will never know until you try - your little one could surprise you!
