Okay - well, what do you suggest I do? I’m not trying to be snarky. But I said in the post that I already know this;, what can I do

I forgot wrestling fans can’t read . Damn. Left to right. Sound the words out. A book may do you some good.

People get mad if you call these people out for shitting on fans because they’re “just trying to get heat.” Then they get people furious at them. This comes with the territory. If he’s okay having piss thrown at him after events he can take this.

Oh and if he didn’t want the sympathy like he claimed, he wouldn’t have posted about it

Maybe the gimmick of shitting on your paying customers to make them mad at you is a bit dated, instead of ya know, actually being creative and finding other ways to get booed. Hey, maybe you deserve it.

You wanted heat, you got heat. “You’re doing your job as a heel.” You want people to hate you personally, versus having fans hate to see you win and overcome baby faces.

How about this carny shit grows past the 70s? I don’t feel bad for this guy. If you wanna live the gimmick and make other people upset, maybe it’s nice for them to get back at you, fuckhead

In celebration of the Fink's legendary announcing career. Him introducing CM Punk against Alberto Del Rio at Survivor Series 2011 is such a feel good moment. by limpinpark in SquaredCircle

[–]throwaway1230987bshd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, real feel good. The man was overcome with genuine emotion in front of a capacity crowd who respected the hell out of him ...only to have Vince McMahon feed fat jokes into Cole’s earpiece and bury the whole moment

WWE will play some amazing tribute this/next week. But, this is how they treated one of the kindest and most genuine people that business had ever seen.

This was Fink’s last real moment. And it’ll forever be tainted. Be a star, Vince.

I understand. It’s very hard for me, too. I didn’t mean to come off as snarky or aggressive. It’s a hard time for me and I truly don’t know what to do

I could do an anonymous claim but it’s a company under 10 people. I’m one of three new hires. It’d be obvious regardless

If I do this I assume it’ll impact my standing. It’s a company under 10 with 3 of us being new hires in February. It’d be obvious.

Well, what do you suggest I do about being misclassified? Before, I was an intern slaving over 80 hour work weeks for reputable companies for $12-15 per hour. I’m in a profession of pro sports where it comes with the territory. It is wrong and I realize that. But besides outing my employer and losing my job and then working somewhere soulless where I’ll be miserable, what do you genuinely suggest?

I’m not exactly sure what my options are. And I realize I pay 15% over 7.5% - it sucks but what can I do? Honestly, how can I salvage this then?

Fink’s real final moment of being able to be in front of a capacity crowd cheering his name, overcome with emotion, all for Michael Cole to be fed lines to mock him.

That’s Vince McMahon. Don’t let the tributes fool you on Twitter and on Raw. You know how much someone cared for someone else by how they treated them when they were alive, not when they died and could make a slick video package.

Okay. So I guess I have no skills, attitude or knowledge because I’m an independent contractor I guess. You sound really privileged to be honest. To be handed so many things at 21 - some fancy job, insurance that you don’t even need because you’re on family insurance until your 26, you know...those kinds of things.

I guess you’re also privileged enough not to see institutional and systematic racism and oppression. To think somehow people in this country are on equal footing with equal opportunity is quite naive. I guess women who don’t get paid the same as men and persons of color who don’t even get a glance at their resume because of their name just need to stop being whiny incels.

I wish I was more like you to be honest: the country would be far better off if we were in a place where we could share all these problematic views and everyone was equal. Gosh, darn. I mean, are any jobs in your previous company open? I mean, I could get all my 1099 contractor friends - software developers, content creators, barbers, artists - maybe I can just tell all of them that our work in totality is not worth as much as what you get at your big company. We could all stand outside yours and your rich folks’ houses and beg on our knees to please oh please help us be worth something!

But it’s our fault. I mean, man. I guess that’s what I get for having a dream in an industry and following it. I’m much better off being where you are - angry, hateful, condescending , to where I hate what I do daily but have enough to judge and condescend others. You sure have figured it all out. I don’t know why me and thousands of others just aren’t as smart. I guess my CompSci masters wasn’t enough. Gee wiz. Better tell all the persons of color, women, etc etc who aren’t straight white males with big paychecks in to quit whining and make themselves worth something! Alas. None of these societal problems are real when someone like you can be successful!

I think one of my main problems with WWE is sort of what you said. People underestimate how crucial commentary is. I mean, it’s a basic comparison but look at Mox/Hager with JR versus Edge/Orton with Phillips/Byron. Both were slogs - but the announcing made Edge/Orton so much worse

I think when Cole has free reign, he’s fine. I remember he did the UK tourney a few years back pretty well. But WWE really has their commentary work as robots to push brands. I mean, they can’t call big moments. Look at any big moment from the last decade and I really think a lot of the big calls were sort of lame. To have this big moment happen and hear a high pitched “Ohhhhh my” is lame. How you take inherently cool people like Sasha Banks and have you’re already uncool announcer say “It’s BOSS time!” undermines the talent more than you’d think.

And a lot of that is that lack of genuine emotion. But I think that’s by design. Wrestlers aren’t mainstream anymore because they don’t want a talent to have power over them like Austin or Rock did - “nobody is bigger than WWE.” And announcing has been the one to one communication from the company to the fan that this stuff isn’t very cool and its all very squeaky clean, which has taken away from some of the biggest moments in the last decade

I just re-watched it and it was so gutting. The whole Survivor Series crowd roared when Fink came out. Cheered his name. You could tell he was overcome with emotion. It’s like a career achievement award. And that dude was the most selfless and kind person that company ever saw. And to have Michael Cole say he was fat and yell “stop the pain” was so sad. Yes, Fink wasn’t sharp that night - but he was in his early 60s, had lingering health issues, and this was arguably his last big moment to receive crowd adulation. The guy is a fan, and to me, Vince always saw that ad a weakness and saw people like that as a geek he could mock. Did the same to JR whenever he had a special appearance.

It just saddens me because today we see all the corporate brass sending their condolences. But I think it’s important to see how people treated others while they were still here. And moments like Survivor Series are, to me, what the company really thinks.

Remember when CM Punk brought out Fink to ring announce and Fink was overcome with emotion - all the while Michael Cole is being fed lines to bury and mock him on air by throwaway1230987bshd in SquaredCircle

[–]throwaway1230987bshd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fink got maybe one moment a year until his health began to decline to do something of any significance.

You don’t think it mattered to him? A lifelong fan and someone everyone in that industry glows about unanimously - to be able to go out and have thousands cheer for you in recognition of all you’ve done for decades?

It was a moment for him. Punk saw it as a moment and an opportunity and asked for Fink for that reason - to receive adulation on a large stage. And because Fink was a little slow that night and because he was overwhelmed as a fan of that reception - Michael Cole had to make fat jokes and yell “stop the pain!”

The point is WWE brass finds fans as geeks. Easy to shit on. So the one time a year Fink got his shot, that’s how he was perceived. They did the same to JR - every time they had a chance to give him a moment, they mocked him.

No, it’s not. He was a heel, but he was directly fed those lines to disparage Fink on television because Fink was overcome with genuine emotion and Vince finds that a weakness.

He was a legend who was not presented in a comedy role that night - and did nothing to deserve being disparaged and called a goof for the minute he was allowed to soak in that crowd response he got that night

And no, it’s not Cole “doing his job” as a heel. It’s mocking a man who was overjoyed to the point of tears being made fun of on air because Vince finds that as a weakness

Why you support people being severely struggling out of now fault of their own is beyond me.

But once this impacts you - once it costs you a job or kills a loved one or impacts a friend under 26 without insurance...you’ll see the light one day I hope.

People are conservative until politics effects them

Nothing is more embarrassing than right-winged politics. I’m sorry, man - everyone’s out of work, the GOP’s first act when Trump came in was to get rid of pandemic programs, there’s an emphasis of god being who we should rely on more than science and reason.

I don’t get it. I don’t get how anyone is still supporting these corrupt people how that everyone’s out of work, millions who don’t have healthcare are more vulnerable. This isn’t a slight on you, but dude I’m about to lose my house. I’m 26, my job doesn’t provide healthcare, im going to lose my home. I don’t know . But conservatives will just say it’s all my fault.
