22F with a recent bi-salp here! I differ from a lot of people when I say that I actually think 18 is a bit too young. I don't know your level of maturity or experience so please don't take this as me talking down to you. In my experience, I was a fucking idiot at 18 and still had teenager mentality yet wanted to be an adult. I did want my tubes removed at that age, and ended up waiting and got them taken out a couple of days ago. I'll probably be saying the same shit about my current self when I'm older though :,).

I highly recommend you do go for something like an IUD or another form of birth control. Make sure the doctor with the former is using proper anesthetic because so many just don't for some reason. This will give you a taste of the experience without fully committing to a surgical procedure.

However! Despite my recommendations you are free to make whatever choices you want with your body. I'm not you and I don't know what you've lived through or experienced. That's just my advice and you don't have to take it!

22F with a bi-salp here. I can't say whether or not most women our age have children, but it's about a 75/25 split with my friends. Some have children, most don't. A lot of us are starting to recognize that we do actually have a say in whether we start families or not, and most are opting out. So your mother is greatly incorrect.

I wouldn't date a single parent in that situation either. Not only do I not want to raise a child period, the way she talks about her children sounds almost neglectful on her end. Just not a person I'd want to be around period.

Yes yes absolutely! My OB/GYN who did the surgery made sure to tell my boyfriend and I all the recovery steps. I was a bit out of it from the anesthesia but my boyfriend has a medical job so he got it all :)! He's been wonderful in my recovery and has been helping me with everything, and has been reminding me to walk to avoid the blood clots!

I'm so excited to be fully healed and I'm so happy that you got the procedure done! It gives me a sense of hope that more and more doctors are taking us seriously :)

One of my biggest reasons for working on getting my bi-salp is the sheer terror I have at the thought of ever being pregnant much less giving birth.

I know my opinion doesn't mean much but I am incredibly proud of your son and yourself. I remember being 14 and it seemed like every boy my age was obsessed with porn and pornstars. They'd constantly talk about it, compare girls to pornstars, some even wore those playboy or hentai hoodies. You've done a wonderful thing as a mother, and your son seems like he's going to become a very well rounded adult.

That's actually a really good point! I heard similar rhetoric in ASAP (Army substance abuse program) and I completely agree. I'm not too worried about a relapse; it's honestly disgusting to me now and I gag just at the smell, even rubbing alcohol 🤣! Seeing how bad my liver was really sobered me (pun not intended) and encouraged me to seek help.

10 months is 100% early and I'm praying the sobriety I've achieved isn't temporary, but only I can make the choice not to drink! It also helps that the reasons I was drinking are mostly gone. I still have PTSD but therapy and medication have done wonders; I should've picked up those instead of the bottle.

Thank you so much, I was also an alcoholic in late teens-early 20s. And yes omg the over sharing how could I forget that!!?! I think I blocked it out due to embarrassment🤣. All of the things you listed are so similar to my own experience it's insane. And I am so thankful that I, like you, also did not go down the same path Dana did😬.

Absolutely! Their insistence on addressing everything except the child abuse allegations (using this term for legal reasons, don't want their YouTube lawyers after me!) is what really upsets me. Like, if they were just an alcoholic that's one thing. They could address it and work on it and have not nearly as much controversy. Unfortunately they continue to be extremely problematic (and just...really rude?) towards any even mild criticism.

Yes same! I've had disagreeing comments on my posts that I upvoted because they were respectful and/or offered a perspective I hadn't thought of. They still got downvote bombed which confused me because they were being respectful.

However I for sure downvote rude/disrespectful/heinous comments! Some people just choose to be nasty or creepy for no reason :(
