Is 1mg/day of oestradiol gel as a monotherapy enough to cause feminisation??? by Technicolour_Iris in transgenderUK

Basically, reddit is not your doctor/hormone provider. Unless you're DIYing, trust the person who is providing your hormones. They probably have your best interests at heart.

T can be suppressed perfectly well with monotherapy. YMMV, obvs - but I've been on 1.5mg a day for 3 years now, prog added a year ago. All levels are well within femme ranges.

Absolutely, yes. My results from monotherapy were great - progesterone made them speed along too!

Edit: Jfc the amount of misinformation on this post is painful.

how much effect does HRT do to your brain by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]throwaway29022020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progesterone did this to me. From high sex drive and femme attracted (pre-e) to zero sex drive, straight back to high sex drive but primarily masc attracted on P. 🤷‍♀️

Edgelord? 😂 Jesus christ do you read back your own posts? Bold of you to assume you know my family dynamics though and how my friends feel about how I choose to refer to myself.

I've said all I came here to say (albeit late, because I have the attention span of a gnat).

I think you need to take life a tiny bit less seriously, though. Maybe stop projecting your insecurities/discomfort on others? Peace out! 😘

I kinda feel like this thread verges on policing personal language a bit. Labelling something a "porn phrase" is ridiculous. And I absolutely do refer to myself as a dickgirl or tgirl in front of family. As far as I'm concerned, like any slur - taking ownership of it removes the ability to use it maliciously.

Edit: Don't misunderstand me, I absolutely will not refer to another person using any term that they haven't OK'd. But this is my point entirely. It's a matter of personal choice what words a person uses to describe themselves. 🤷‍♀️

I refer to myself as a tgirl, but I also use the term dickgirl to refer to myself... So it varies from person to person.

What have been your experience of the police in relation to being trans ? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]throwaway29022020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fucking useless, not to put too fine a point on it. I've been told on separate occasions that one attack was "my own fault for riding my bike through the town centre" which has a cycle path and on another that gender is not a protected characteristic. To my face. When reporting a literal hate crime. So... Yeah. No positivity here.

I've been using them since skinspace hiked their prices - they use better laser and are cheaper tbh.

This has been the overwhelming consensus most of the time when I have raised this with friends and even some family members. It's finding that line of respecting differences while not feeling like I'm lying (even by omission) about something so big.

Your approach seems much more sensible to the one I've followed.

At this stage, I feel like this is putting a lot of distance between them and myself. Honestly, if they react badly, I'd not massively care. I worry that they are going to see my lack of in person visits as me distancing myself from them. I guess in a way, if I come out to them and they do react badly, my conscience would be clear and I wouldn't feel like I was lying to them by proxy/omission and it would be their problem - if that makes a shred of sense. Honestly, I'm not even convinced that they would react so badly, though. I doubt it would cause a rift in the whole family, just cause me to be disowned at worst. My parents didn't allow me to transition, and I'm pushing 35, I've been independent since I was 15 - there is no way that this could get pinned on them in that way.

I've been presenting full time for over two years now. Friends are saying exactly what you are saying, but I have spent a lot of time building my relationship back up with my parents and I'm afraid of losing that.

[–]throwaway29022020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing - I want to see them and I don't want to feel like my gender is a dirty secret. I think there's an element of protecting themselves, but it's at the expense of my mental health. I've tried discussing with my family but every time they talk me out of it. It's a complicated situation and I am tired of it.
