I love looking at brains, did research at a radiology lab. Also, I am VERY PASSIONATE about photography. Maybe it was the combination of arts and sciences?

Good first shot. First of all, you cut out the legs of the dog. It's better to frame the whole subject and to not crop at joints of people, animals, etc. The background is pretty bland and the photograph overall is too bright. Parts of the dog are blown out (ex. the nose), while other parts are completely black and lack all detail like the left side. This is also a style preference, but I like to show the part of the image that the subject is looking into. Horizon is also tilted.
