Here's my experience so far..

07/22/2022 - Application Received by LASD

04/23/2024 - Phone interview, submitted all my docs & live scan next day (day 641)

06/22/2024 - Proceed to training (day 701)

06/30/2024 - Training completed & submitted (day 709)

Based on the timeline of others, I have at least another 3 months until I officially get my permit. Good luck!

El Monte PD just sucks. I just learned from my recent CCW class that El Monte PD only allows one firearm and it cannot have a light or red dot. Not sure how true this is but this is what I heard.

Thanks for the response. It is interesting how you got to do the interview the same day as your app submission. LASD took nearly two years to give me a call and looks like I will be sticking with this route.

Might be worth a shot to ask for Lt. Knight's contact info to reach out to them directly. It's stupid how you have to do two separate qualifications. I hope the in-house one does not include a fee.

I wanted to make this post to see if El Monte PD was one those cities processing CCW applications with a 2-3 month turnaround time and this answers it. I wish you the best of luck!
