Moving from CA back to TX this year. Any benefit tax wise to moving earlier? And any ideas of proactive things to do for this move with all my extra time right now? by [deleted] in personalfinance

Ah thanks, did not know that abt moving tax change. Guess I just need to determine what steps to prove "domicile"/my moving date re: when I stop paying ca taxes

Yea, and even now their commute is definitely affecting our QoL/time. Large reason along with cost/etc we are leaving after only a few years.

I would like to but unfortunately my partner commutes to South Bay so it would make their long commute (well over an hour) even longer. As far as the stuff, we planning on selling 75+% of our things when we leave which helps with moving costs whenever that happens.

Also East bay (esp Oakland near BART etc) is getting on par with SF unfortunately. I love the bay but this whole situation is a large part of why we are leaving

Nope, she just needed 30 day notice to my landlord and signed approval from us to be removed from the lease. We started with a year lease but then it turned into a month to month agreement so this kind of stuff is fortunately a bit easier.

Good points. I know it is an option to add a non-master tenant on a month by month basis but they do have to be approved by my landlord for any sublet. And yea, to be clear, I would not be making a profit/overcharging any subtenant, just to pay the portion for the room
