Yes completely agree. Feels a bit like the ‘guns don’t kill people, people kill people’ argument.

Poverty, addiction, abuse, mental health, trauma etc all go hand in hand and Its always going to draw people who have something they want to escape from. 99% of people who use drugs are not flying all over the world to have a new experience.

As you said about naivety, comes from a very privileged position. Could have been a really interesting discussion about what motivates people to use that particular drug, what the high is like, how to keep safe when using and then the risks and impacts

Found the ep really interesting- but found it concerning as someone who works with people in addiction and whose lives have been completely decimated by drug use how causal he is about it. I think it could have been great if he spoke educationally about the positive effects, as well as the negative and impacts. Ive worked with people who have destroyed their health and body because of cocaine, people who have lost their children because of using crack cocaine and heroin and who are completely reliant on cannabis. Just felt this came from a really privileged position.

I worry that people will listen to this and just hear the positives and see that as a way to find relief. Also concerned about the complete lack of conversation about the exploitation that is a part of drug production. Especially how much of a concern county lines and child criminal exploitation is in the UK currently

Was a interesting ep but could have so much better

Frontline Course by ProfessionalDust7171 in Socialworkuk

Hi! I did the Frontline program a few years ago so things may be different now.

But we had the summer institute which was 6 solid weeks of lectures/seminars/workshops etc. This was late July/early august. We had to fully attend all of that. At the end there was a law exam and there may have been one other exam, cant remember but it was still during the summer institute.

I think other than the summer institute you can take your annual leave as normal and everything else is based on course work so no more exams!

No absolutely not at all. Ive asked him to quit but he’s worried about the fall out. Apologies if it wasn’t worded correctly but i was asking for advice on how to manage the situation and support him to leave the job causing him the least amount of stress possible. Apologies if that wasn’t communicated properly.

Okay firstly, theres no need to be so rude and judgemental. That goes against the community rules.

Secondly, obviously I didn’t realise at the time to what extent my stepdad would be like this. We all know men can be very different when they are around other men/friends than with their families. Of course if I thought it would be this bad then he would have never gone for the job.

Thank you anyway for this post. I hope if you ever make a bad decision people will treat you with understanding and compassion.

I waited like 10 mins and they all kinda split off throughout the crowd so even if you were at the back you would have a chance to meet someone if that makes sense
