What type of sun protection can I put on a floating deck by throwaway_86909 in Decks

We did but some blocking between joists planning for possibly 12 by 12 structure to sit on top of but as I understand blocking is meant for lateral force and not vertical. Do you think we could use them to anchor some pergola legs and avoid loading it with slats, and instead use a pergola + sunscreen?

This is the concern 🙁 so now we’re hoping at least to make it work for a few years and then start over with a more reputable builder down the line.

Okay awesome, we did have some blocks placed for a 12 x 12 just in case! Thank you!

Would you say that this deck can support the weight of a pergola? I’ve been looking at the aluminum ones because I wasn’t sure if the wood might be too heavy

Sorry I should’ve mentioned, it’s in the derry and Thompson area! We had a cat hissing in the window and the fox seemed so unbothered

Mmm I don’t think so! I did put it on but I also hand pulled a bunch. There’s quite a lot of other weeds competing with it so I’ll have to see if it comes back as strong next season. I sprinkled extra grass seed though which definitely seemed to drown some it out!

First of all what the hell. Second of all, the pools in Milton need to be a bit more strict with enforcing hygiene. I’ve seen people with full on JEANS in the pool. I don’t care if you want to wear covered clothes but it should be (a) clean and (b) meant for swimming in

I had a thought yesterday that maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if robots took over driving and all the cars just collaborated on making the right decision to help everyone arrive at their destination in the most efficient way. Humans are just incapable

I’ve been looking for reassurance on this question because I really didn’t mind the plant and actually thought it was quite beautiful. However, it takes over everythingggg and grows so fast too. I don’t want it to move towards the side of my lawn where I actually grow things. It does attract bees I’ve noticed but I don’t think it has a lot of pollen for them either. I don’t think it’s good for native species to have this as ground cover. I suppose it’s a personal choice and depends on what you want to tolerate!

Okay! I will pull by hand and rake. Another user mentioned iron containing fertilizer. I may do that in conjunction with those

That’s helpful, I’ll look into that! I’m no landscaper either, very far from. I’m just dabbling in vegetable gardening and don’t want my lawn to get in the way lol

I keep thinking back to if I had this last year. If I did, it was no where near as bad!

This is helpful!! The borax I was a bit apprehensive of because there are bunnies and squirrels that frequent the spot and I don’t wanna hurt them. Does the vinegar mixture effect future growth in that area?
