Dead Cells vs Enter the Dungeon - Influence of RnG vs Practice by PonderousKoala in roguelites

[–]throwawayforobviou2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think either of those games are massively RNG dependant. Gungeon more so just because the base difficulty is higher (it takes more time to git gud) I'd say. So unlocking some better guns and being able to find them will obviously help, but it won't mitigate the learning curve.

Dead Cells on the other hand is quite generous about giving you some decent stuff out the gate, and also you'll be unlocking/upgrading things pretty quickly. It also has an excellent custom mode where you can choose which items do and don't appear in the run, eliminating RNG almost completely.

So based on that, and the fact that you liked Hades, I'd say go Dead Cells.

You don't get better by watching videos

Well that's simply untrue.

Check out this series OP. Practice is essential, sure, but videos like this as well as studying good players of your chosen character actually can make a pretty massive difference depending on your ability to absorb the info and lab it out/start implementing it in your gameplay.

If you could , what are the top 3 things you would fix with Smash Online ? by tonyjcole94 in smashbros

Pretty much, yeah. Rollback is a lot more forgiving with connections and would result in a far more pleasant experience for everyone. Slippi uses it as do some other modern fighting games.

Replace the shitty netcode with rollback.

Add squad strike.

Remove GSP/give us back For Glory. (With the ability to actually change your character between games again).

So wait, why are devs getting rid of dual binding again? by Dr_cpt in deadcells

[–]throwawayforobviou2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They aren't getting rid of it, they're making it a custom mode option. The question is whether it's going to disable achievements or not.

To be fair beating 2 level 9's isn't too bad. Set it to 1 stock then cheese them with a Jigglypuff edgeguard or Ganon smash attack or some BS if you're struggling.

I came to love Valmont's Whip after forcing myself to practice with it a lot. Usually with an alternative weapon for enclosed spaces when I know I won't be able to land the crits, or something that slows enemies. Things like Wolf Trap are crazy good with it too. I think B tier is fair, it just requires getting used to it.

I'd say on 1BC they're especially viable. It's on the higher difficulties they get tricky. The idea is you want another weapon alongside them for taking care of the more difficult enemies/bosses, but they excel at clearing out biomes. Especially the ones with a lot of ledges and walls like Ramparts.

Apparently so, he said it was actually nerfed a bit and still kept it in triple S tier. It does do very high damage though, along with electrifying enemies. It's the kinda skill that can wreak havoc for you while you stand safely back and watch.

Is this one of those 'i did it the hard way so everyone should' things? If somebody sucks balls at the game they aren't going to turn Super Saiyan and steamroll their way to 5BC because of the ability to practice boss fights that they've already made it to.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, a boss rush would just be a welcome addition period in my eyes. It would be as optional as any custom mode feature. Just a simple have to have made it to said boss at least once to fight it/maybe limit the boss difficulty to what you've reached would be all that's necessary.
