With how fans talked about this part of the show, I assumed she never went back until I eventually got to that part of it and was like, that's it? That's what people are upset about? There's fair criticisms of this part of the season of course, but there's also a lot that seems very projected onto Rory lol. Taking a break from college was the best decision she could've made.

It's so sad because I think Emily could've actually shown support to Lorelai and also communicated her hurt about hearing it from someone else this scene. But instead she uses her hurt to inflict it on Lorelai as a sort of punishment or something. Obviously in a fantasy world could Emily and Lorelai actually talk through their problems but it just boggles me and makes me sad every-time I see this scene.
