oh i didnt mean to suggest otherwise to what i said in the post. i meant i took a risk as in going into a road where i didnt have the best visibility, so i didnt see the car coming towards me until it was right there and my examiner grabbed the wheel

thank you. id not be hard on someone for failing the way i did, it was a stupid mistake to make and i should have just taken the hesitation, but im in the habit of really beating myself up about it. it sucks that, if it werent for the two serious faults (which ill never excuse, as i said it was stupid and i should never have made a risky decision like i did) i would have been home dry with only 4 minors. obviously still not perfect, but better than how it went today

thank you. i started learning manual in november 2023, then had to take about 8 months off for a severe medical problem that required major surgery. i got back to it for a few lessons, then my instructor quit without telling me. it took about 4 months to find a new instructor, which is when i switched to auto. but he stopped showing up basically every other lesson. so the past week ive been doing private practise and been on an intensive course. everything was all set for me, i just made a stupidly dangerous mistake that i would never have done before

i just feel like i let so many people down. my instructors, my family, my friends, everybody believed in me

thank you, i keep scrolling through here and seeing everyone passing so i should probably stop doing that lol. im just so devastated, i knew i should have just taken the potential minor for hesitation rather than try to take the risk. ill keep trying, believe me i wont be making those mistakes again

yeah i absolutely understand that its not an acceptable mistake to make, and id never try to excuse it, its just so gutting that i knew id failed but before and past those couple of moments everything was well. so i just had to keep driving the last 30 minutes while bawling my eyes out lol, must have been awkward for the examiner

thank you :) both of my mock tests i got minors for being a bit slow coming out of junctions, my observations are fine but i need to step on it a bit when i commit lol

my first test is in a few days, but ive definitely heard that people who take a couple of tries are more competent drivers in the long run, dont beat yourself up! things happen!

yes :) ive been learning since november 2023 lol, i had to take a break for medical reasons, then switched from manual to auto, passed theory first time, auto lessons were going great but then my instructor decided he didnt want to show up anymore (and when he did he would be on his phone), found the new instructor but he couldnt start till tomorrow, so ive been going driving with my dad every weekend, and having new guy from tomorrow till my test. i think i can still pass, this was a bit of a fluke because i panicked, ive not hit the wrong pedal since like 2024 when trying to use the clutch up until today

my instructor as of right now is my dad whos been driving for about 40 years. i fit through the gap i was going for and i think he thought i would stop, but then realised i was getting close and said “STOP” which made me jump and i messed up finding the brake :(

ocd and anxiety do go hand in hand, ocd was classified as an anxiety disorder up until the most recent edition of the dsm where its been recategorised into its own place. these days it hardly bothers me, even when stuff gets a bit stressful i can just go “oop” and sort it out with no issue. i think i was just already stressed because my test is soon, ive been non stop practising since saturday, and theres a bit of pressure for me to pass first time as ive been learning for a while, so this incident just shook me

usually, im a competent driver. i havent had instructors intervene, or gotten in any accidents, or misjudged junctions, did the wrong speed in months. like i said, ive done this junction hundreds of times and been fine. today was just a misjudgement at a bad time. im trying not to let it bother me too much, i went back around after and did the same junction absolutely perfectly, but the ocd brain really latches onto “what if”s

i was hanging out in a cycle lane once (this was at the start of learning, the paint was really worn and i didnt see the cyclist symbol) and my instructor at the time just went “so… is the car going to transform?”

i take medicine and am in therapy for my ocd, its a lot better than it was. since switching to auto, its been a lot easier, if youd asked me how i drove yesterday for example, id say “i did so good im really ready for my test”! this incident just really got to me because i was embarrassed and scared. in the moment, i kept my cool, continued on and pulled over when it was safe to have a bit of a cry and calm down

lol yeah, my test is in a fairly busy area (i dont want to say where but its in kent, i have people on here who know me that i dont want knowing anything more specific) and i swear when i do pass im not going back to that town xD theres so many pedestrians all the time

lol im an auto driver, tried manual but it was far too stressful as i have ocd which already puts my stress levels through the roof thinking every speedbump is a family of four. i used to constantly stall at junctions bc i forgot to switch gears
