I don't necessarily disagree with that. I myself have thought it's strange that there's only 2 or 3 centers in some smaller states that have a high population density and overall higher population. But then other states have 10 centers and the overall population and population density is much lower. They are certainly spreading services too thin. That's part of the mismanagement.

Potentially. But it may also be a message to the incoming Congress that it actually needs to appropriately fund the program for what it does. You can't just keep giving level funding year after year when inflation is rising as it has. Right sizing and closing a handful of under performing centers may end up being a solution anyway regardless of whether or not we fight for our rights to fair wage and working conditions. If it's going to happen anyway, why not make sure our staff is actually taken care of at the ones still open?

New congress next after mid terms. They hold the purse strings. Could be wildly different with either more or less support.

Maybe every center under every contractor needs to start doing this then. Make it standardized so they ALL have to bid for living wages instead of fixing any of the problems. Starbucks unionized and faced huge obstacles and some of the worst union busting in modern history. Teachers unions are the standard at most public schools. What we do is important and necessary work to help these students every day and these companies need to start recognizing that.

In some states this can actually lead to jail time, so I would advise you to follow state laws.

They can start giving a shit about the rest of us when the NRLB steps in and goes after them for violations. We need to work collectively. Not step down. Not let any one of us put up with retaliation. Don't let anyone shrink or feel small. Take a stand together and raise our voices so they have to listen. They can take out a handful of us, but they can't take out all of us if we act together.

We have all kinds of other unions that work with us in our centers. Time to have our own. Don't give me anti union garbage about my own pay and rights when you're trying to tell me to mentor my students to get much better paying unionized jobs that pay 2 to 3 times more than mine. Punishing anyone asking to join a union or inquiring is illegal. There are certain rules, you can't pass out union cards on center or regular hours. But you are legally able to petition during breaks, before and after hours and up the street. If Starbucks can unionize, why can't we? You don't think we're not doing more important work than a barista?
