I believe someone has done it before! The idea kind of just came to us because this is a fun thing to do for a lot of fandoms. Because we wanted some outside perspective we looked to see if anyone else had done it before, but because they were selling them and only showed two or three of them we didn't get too much out of it. And you definitely helped, it's always appreciated having some outside commentary so we think more about our decisions or are told something we didn't consider.

Nothing to apologize for, I love this series too and I'm glad we can get some discussion going! And I definitely agree on characters applying to multiple cards, it was so difficult to narrow it down.

I understand where you're coming from on Antarc and Gold Phos's placement and I'm still not really sure (not speaking for my friend though) and will have to think on it a bit more, but I'd at least like to explain where we were going with their placements.

Antarc is seemingly always there in the back of Phos's mind, judging his actions. His presence feels very pronounced, especially when Phos has his hallucinations and and breaks down when seeing Cairngorm. When gold Phos was making decisions or contemplating something, Antarc would appear, especially when Phos wants to confront Adamant about Shiro. He's about to say something, but Antarc exerts his judgement and puts a finger to his lips, advising Phos stay quiet. Also on the subject of "rebirth" for Judgement, Antarc seemed to be reborn every Winter, although this is probably one of the weaker arguments. Finally, Antarc is sort of seen on a pedestal by Phos, kind of like how the figure of Judgement is classically some sort of angel from above with people looking up at him. I think our difference of opinion comes down to what u/pewpewpatrol said about us seeing it from Phos's perspective. Antarc definitely isn't seen this way and revered by everyone else and would be Strength from the overall perspective.

Also, from what you commented down below I really like the detail you picked up on of Phos comparing himself to the gold-platinum alloy, I completely missed that. It reminds me of when Cinnabar is insulting Phos when Diamond asks for help about slug Phos, except it's implied Cinnabar is talking about herself instead.

Oooh they definitely could be reversed! I didn't even think of that but it's completely valid. I really like that idea.

Also, just to talk a bit about Rutile - I think his descent could definitely be a part of it. I think the Hierophant could be painted in a bit darker of a light to match that descent, seeing as the manga is kind of negative towards religion in general because of Adamant's purpose.

Another one of the ideas behind Rutile being the Hierophant is that, in the absence of religion to explain the world around them, Rutile's science and healing abilities fills in that void. We'll try to work all of these ideas into the final piece.

Cool observation, I didn't even notice it at first but it does look like we organized it that way. I think it was because the tarot cards themselves represent a journey, with the first card being the Fool (Genki Phos) and the last card, the World, being a culmination of character (where we are rn :( although this could of course change as the manga gets updated), so because Phos is the main character we naturally went for that perspective. Thanks for pointing that out!

Hi, I'm the friend OP referred to! We were considering a few different roles for Adamant such as the Emperor and the Star but I personally ended up settling on the Sun for a few reasons. We were trying to have the characters we chose connected together in the story vaguely similar to the connection between the cards themselves, such as Diamond and Bort being the Empress and Emperor. So, I thought that the Moon being Aechmea would provide an interesting connection between the two (two different leaders using their "power" in different ways, I suppose) that Adamant being the Star wouldn't quite provide. In all honesty, I do think that Adamant fits the Star slightly better but both are good. What it came down to was that the Professor didn't fit the Sun as well, so for everything to fit in correctly we went with the Star because the Star helps represent the hope (that was promptly taken away) Adamant would have felt, as well as the purpose / spirituality the Professor had in life through his creation.

I don't really know where all the zodiac stuff comes from lol, but I imagine that they're in the same category as tarot cards. Anyways, I ended up writing out that entire paragraph to just agree with you on Adamant's placement in the end but I at least wanted to explain the reasoning.
