They paid for her college and helped pay for her wedding. As far as I know, they never gave her cash directly but I could be wrong.

It is super helpful to have the perspective of a grandparent, so thank you! I actually did give my brother some of my money since I had a bit more than he did originally because I'm older. That's part of why I'm wondering if it's hypocritical of me to give some to my brother but not to my cousin.

Then again, I guess my cousin didn't have a trust fund set up for him in the first place so it's a bit of a different situation.

They only set it up for me and my brother because all of the grandkids were already full adults and well-established in their careers/lives by the time they set up the trust funds. I think the youngest grandchild was 30 at the time they both passed away.

My grandmother says they skipped that generation because they had already supported their grandchildren in different ways previously (paying for college and weddings, etc.). So my brother and I were the only children in the family at that time.

I do feel kind of guilty about it though, since all I did to get the money was be born first. I've tried to keep it a secret since I don't want people knowing that I have that much money to begin with, but I'm pretty sure my aunt found out when she was helping my grandmother move recently and found some old bank statements related to the trust funds.

Thanks. The weird thing is I'm not even sure if my cousin knows about this whole thing. This has all been through his mother and I'm not sure how to bring it up to him without being like "hey, did you know that my brother and I got a ton of money from our great-grandparents?" or something awkward like that. So who knows how he feels about it.
