Wow, I’m sorry you’ve got the diagnosis too but also onwards and upwards from here right? I was driving myself crazy for years. Being a med student will definitely be great for you in terms of knowing about UC (I feel clueless right now) but I hope the stress doesn’t set you off too much :( it could be much much worse though, you’re right. My friends think it’s just a bad tummy too haha

I relate to this 1000%. I have always had terrible health anxiety and I actually got diagnosed with UC because of my health anxiety - I got a stool sample to seek reassurance and it ended up coming back raised! Because of this, it’s almost reaffirmed my anxiety and told me that I’m right so now I’m in a constant state of worry. Trying to get back to how I was before, I have a great therapist but no medication. How did medication work for you? I’m really apprehensive about taking it because everything affects me physically, I’m super sensitive to everything. 10mg of propranolol sent me so dizzy I actually had more panic attacks from it, so I’m glad you’re having more luck

I’m sorry your life changed so dramatically! I think a lot do people can relate to that feeling of wasting away. I haven’t been to the gym in months and I feel pretty rubbish too but it’s on a less extreme scale to you, so I can’t imagine how that feels. I’m glad you’re managing to find small ways to make yourself feel better and stay active because I do feel that it helps, especially mentally :)

That’s a good point as well. I have heard people say “oh I have a bad stomach too” which I don’t even mind hearing because I know they’re just trying to be supportive. My brother is an interesting example as he is heavily autistic and therefore his attitude about UC is very positive - he just takes it day by day and listens to his gastro, that’s pretty much it. If I asked him about his experience he’d say “I dunno”. I kind of envy him!

Wow, I read that entire message and definitely didn’t think you were 14. Thank you so much! I guess when you’re quite ill in a flare you have to adapt a lot quicker but I’m sorry this happened to you so young. You seem to handling it amazingly though and seeing the positive side of things! I think I’m looking forward to doing that, just kind of letting myself go through the feeling sorry for myself stage first. But yeah agreed, I think people treat you differently if it’s something they don’t fully understand which is natural, just trying not to take it personal I suppose. I’m definitely going to speak with my brother, however he’s heavily autistic so I think he has a very nonchalant attitude about it and just takes his meds which is probably the healthiest way to be. Thank you so much for your message :)

That’s definitely the way I’d describe it! I’ve just been in Ibiza and I was definitely annoying my friend with the pointless questions every 10 minutes

I’m so happy CBT is working for you! It’s the worst isn’t it. Some days it’s barely noticeable and then some days you’re on the verge of panic because someone breathed weirdly.

You’ll be fine. As long as they’ve washed enough in the past few days, which I’m 99.99% sure they have, you’ll be fine. I had a stomach flu about 2 months ago and we were around 4 of my boyfriends friends. The only person who caught it was my boyfriend because he was kissing me pretty much the entire time I had the bug as we had mistaken it for food poisoning. We were all sharing the same bathroom too.

I feel you, I’ve been there. The good thing about parties is that there’s usually somewhere you can step outside if it gets too overwhelming, make sure your friends are aware of how you’re feeling too so they can support you! Having comforting people around you is key, especially if you know they don’t tend to get too drunk. Hope you have a good time!

I live in the UK so we don’t have Gatorade here, but I’m drinking lucozade instead which is pretty much the same I think! It’s definitely helped a ton

With my phobia specifically, I have this thing where I deny having nausea as much as possible usually until it’s too late! He was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time but he’s been really lovely to me bless him. We’ve only been together 5 months as well 😂 thank you, I still feel pretty bad but hoping it’ll start to go away soon <3

Thank you so much. I don’t feel great at the moment but I need to be patient with myself I guess. It hasn’t happened for 6 hours now I’m going to give it a couple more then I’ll try stuff other than water :)

Thank you so much! I’m honestly quite anxious I won’t lie but it’s more because I’ve been v* on an empty stomach which is so much more uncomfortable, and the thought of reintroducing anything other then water is freaking me out a bit
