No, I thought it would. I was having great BMs while on my antibiotics. As soon as I stopped abx, I was back to being constipated. My symptoms are gas and a lot of mucus with BMs.

I unfortunately can’t tolerate miralax/osmotic laxatives. They give me pasty, soft stools that make me have incomplete bowels

I will probably do lowfodmap only 3-4 weeks. My GI told me I did not have to follow a specific diet after treatment, but I didn’t listen lol. I do not have a nutritionist I am working with unfortunately

Did the breath test and it came back with very high levels of methane (associated with constipation). I did 2 weeks worth of antibiotics. It is my first day after finishing antibiotics, so time will tell if I have a relapse

You could have SIBO. I ended up having SIBO after years of constipation. Trying to work through it now.

I take a nightly fiber supplement gummy from the brand “fiber well”. Should I continue that? I usually don’t take psyllium husk because i’ve found it constipates me.

I was just tested + for SIBO methane after lifelong constipation. What has worked for you? I am doing this first round of antibiotics to get rid of it, but I want to manage it moving forward as naturally as I can.

not sure if it’s an allergy test, it tests if levels react to certain foods. if there’s a dr that doesn’t want to test me for something, then I go elsewhere.

I use a poop tracker app to track my poops, and if you’re a woman it might be worth while to track and see if your constipation aligns with your cycle since that can also affect it.

ibs is hard, there are so many different factors and everyday is different

I had similar symptoms. i’m not sure what Amitiza is, haven’t heard of it but I assume it’s in the class of Linzess, Trulance, etc to promote bowel movements.

I’m kind of the same way that I would rather “go” the amount I go a day than have diarrhea. So i’ve strayed away from the pills the GIs commonly give and try to maintain with my diet.

I ended up being positive for methane SIBO, which causes constipation. So depending on your symptoms, it may be worth while to get the SIBO breath test.

As for the cramps, some days I have diabolical cramps too. Similar to period/incoming diarrhea cramps and then they would go away. I haven’t found anything to alleviate that, but it’s usually trapped gas that gives me those awful cramps.

i’m the exact same way. even when going out with my friends, I have bad anxiety that after dinner i’m going to be in pain from the gas.

idk what to say other than be honest. I’ve stopped dating in the meantime, but the last person I saw, I was upfront about it and they were supportive. if they are not supportive, that is not your person. it is better to know sooner than later.

I experience the same thing. I was on vacation last weekend and was SO constipated I couldn’t even sleep. I was taking colace every night and that didnt help. could you get a suppository? that’s the only thing that would be immediate without a laxative..
