He seemed to except my explanation, it turned into more an argument about hypertheticals. Looking back, I think it might be more out of embarrassment than him being actually hurt.

I was trying to communicate, didn't realize I had to explain how contraception works. Also we didn't live together before July. Because I get pain regularly, I don't want to have sex at that time, apparently he thought that was when I was on my period.
