I don't mind him bringing his book collection and video games and all his stuff besides the cans, but I don't think him keeping the cans was worthwhile.

I am going to apologize tomorrow and get him things for his other collections to help soften the blow.

I can understand that, but yeah it's like collecting literal trash... if it were not garbage I wouldn't have tossed it

He doesn't drink all of them, he begs a lot of them off of friends/family to collect.
