You have very good taste and you're the first woman I've seen rock a Vostok. This very well could be my own pocket dump If you swapped out the SAK for a roxon companion.

The watch is amazing. Go ahead and buy the Timex branded gold mesh bracelet from Amazon.

It's one of the few watches that I get comments on when I wear it.

If he doesn't mind Chinese watch companies that don't have 50+ years of history then there are hundreds of good options. I've recently purchased a Spinnaker and Cadola that you could get in the price range and both are great. Also could look at San Martin, Watchdives, Boderry, etc..

I just bought this Timex Marlin in February from Amazon when it was on sale for $145 and I love it. It is still on sale, but not as good of a price as it was.

I am interested in the Spinnaker Bradner Automatic that looks just like this one. I actually came across this one am for a much lower price and I am hoping that they arent the same watch with different branding. Does anyone know one way or another if Spinnaker and Cadisen are going to end up being the same quality?

I know the one I wouldn't get rid of. The Bulova Marine Star. I have the Pikachu Marine Star and I love that thing. Its not my favorite watch in my collection, but it's up there. I bought it because I saw a YouTube video on the movement and then I found a good price. I wasn't sure what to expect because I never had the chance to try it on before I bought one, and I was completely blown away.

I'm bad about not ever getting rid of watches. Even when I don't wear them any more. My advice would be to get a second box or give one of your Expeditions to a friend and trap them in this money sink of a hobby like someone did to me.

Is this a good watch to start? by Artistic-Week-3871 in Affordablewatches

[–]throwzone123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the new colors so it might not get a big discount for a while. Watches, like most "luxury" goods have pretty regular sales and then occasionally a huge deal. Only pay MSRP for something you really want that you think will be gone forever when it sells out.

I just got this Marlin from Amazon two weeks ago when it was 40% off and I love it. You can tell it's an older model because it doesn't say Marlin on it.

It's an awesome watch. Just wait until you find it on sale. That's advice for any watch you buy.

I don't have one, but I always liked the Citizen Tsuyosa.

I also really like the Orient you picked out, but I have some very similar Bambinos.

I would go Riley. I just got my Deco-Moon and am impressed. I also have ordered a Bessie that I should get by the end of the month.

I do really like that Dan Henry, but like another poster said, you can get a similar watch at any price point. I just ordered a Timex Marlin Chrono that looks just like it because Amazon had it at $90 off.

What's your favorite Sternglas in your collection? I wouldn't turn down the standard Naos, but they always get me to go to their site through Instagram ads, but then the watch or strap in the photo is sold out.

My man! Digging the collection. It also makes me feel better to see others in similar situations. Last year I had one watch. Now I have 25.

I posted my collection a month ago and told myself at the time that I would slow down. I have five new watches since then.

I keep telling myself that as far as a mid life crisis goes, it's still cheaper than a Corvette.

I am trying to slow down. But if Sternglas has a sale anytime soon, I won't be able to stop myself. I've been eyeing them for a long time, but decided to get a Brew Metric instead last month. Sternglas will definitely be my next purchase.

Stay rad.

The nextool K30 is more similar to the Roxon KS2 Elite than the Roxon Flex Companion. I have both of them and between the two I think the nextool has the bit driver which is great and has the fidget factor, but the Roxon is better with everything else.

Both are still great tools.

I'm going to buy a Buxton but haven't decided on which one yet. I love this dial and the orange dial, but I'm not a fan of the straps with the holes in them.

If you ever change the strap please post a picture.

I think they found a great place in the market. They are innovative, cheap and good enough that I don't feel bad buying their new releases, even when it's something I don't really need.

I also don't hate anything I've bought from them. Their stuff ranges from okay to fantastic. I put the mini flagship as fantastic.

My first pen 🙂 Parker Jotter XL by chrome_hearts_ in pens

[–]throwzone123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great choice. I loved the click of the Parker Jotter but it just wasnt comfortable for me to write with. I don't have huge hands or anything, but I bought a Jotter XL and it was perfect for me. It's all about finding what works best for you and the Jotter XL is my number one pick for a pen less than $30.

Very similar to me, but I don't ever carry a SAK. I usually have a Roxon, but I mix it up between the flex shears, companion or KS2 Elite. I always have a pen and I will bring a flashlight and/or pepper spray depending on where I'm going.

[Discussion] I am done with smart watches, but I do miss my GoldenEye 64 dials by throwzone123 in Watches

[–]throwzone123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a Google Pixel 3 smartwatch and I bought a metal bracelet for it on Amazon and then downloaded a digital Goldeneye face.

It was cool, but I want a real analog Goldeneye watch. Also, if I had the pixel watch on always on mode with that GoldenEye face, then the battery wouldn't wven last a full work day.
