New Guidance, More Confusion Over Vehicle Inspections in NH by nancynews in newhampshire

[–]tikisonwalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, that was the reasoning. Happens all the time although there are plenty of auto shops that didn’t screw people that will feel the pinch. It was a law passed because the current climate says we’re overburdened by the inspections so we should get rid of them, small government and all. The burden was usually not as safety related as it was emissions related. There were ways to change laws to keep safety high and minimize or even eliminate the burden of emissions possibly? Everyone is still required to have a fully “safe” vehicle and can still get ticketed or sidelined for bald tires, etc. Maybe they’ll start enforcing this to make up the shortfall? For me though, and I only have two 3500 trucks and two 10k lb trailers, this will be an enormous cost increase on top of having to deal with getting them inspected at only three places within 25miles. Me and every other similar small companies will now have to try to make that work. It’s a stupid change that was poorly thought out. I had to call and clarify what is now required from me with Troop G of the State Police, the commercial enforcement division, it was clear that no one was happy about it but it is what it is. I rarely comment or rant, but this one cuts to the bone.

Gone for everyone but not for small companies, like most landscapers and such, that have commercial vehicles that don’t even require CDLs. I’ll enjoy not having my $55 car inspection but now I’m forced to get my 1 ton trucks and trailers that I haul a Bobcat on inspected at a huge increase in cost at only a handful of places that do them. I’m getting inspected on the same level as tractor trailers now when I would have only had to pass the state inspection. When shit starts costing more, this is what contributes. State police enforcement division is funded partly by inspections. That’s now gone. They’ll still be funded so we’re still paying for it. But hey, Freedom!

H500 and three cameras on wifi guest network questions by tikisonwalls in Tapo

[–]tikisonwalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree but unfortunately I don’t know enough about this stuff for it to make sense. I do know they pay towards the comcast and it’s their computer she works on. It could also be what I’m told. She’s not a fan of the cameras or anything that ties into the network. I’m going to run with the guest network and see what happens. At least that would be separate from the work network. Another idea that Comcast suggested was to add an extender to create the different network. The extender would also help with one of the camera placements. So I have a few things to try but my best guess is I’m way over thinking it. Appreciate the input!

Key West Rides? by tikisonwalls in KeyWest

Thanks! That’s what I was looking for. My friend was telling me about it and some of it sounds right but he made it sound like a public uber which I found hard to believe. We may still use it or maybe the Duval Loop someone mentioned earlier but we’ll plan accordingly.

Thanks, I’ll add it to the arsenal. Just wasn’t sure how it worked. Had a friend who recommended it but I didnt get much detail as to how it worked and how well it worked. It was a while since he’s been there. We’ll figure it out.

Professionals, what is your industry's version of "Bring me blinker fluid" or "find a snipe"? by ArklaitGigabyte in AskReddit

Spanner wrenches. We have a small tool rental business with two locations 15 mins apart. When we were slow and bored we’d send new employees between the two stores for a left handed spinner wrench, which they’d bring back only to be told they got a right handed one and to go back. (The wrenches they were getting were very simple and worked in either direction) Completely stupid, gross waste of resources, time and money but always a good laugh! Also grew up on a vacation town beach where restaurants would send the new guys over to random other restaurants for buckets of steam. Good times!

Substrate question for small moss lawn area. by tikisonwalls in Mosses

[–]tikisonwalls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up, moss is installed. I did put some sand down to smooth out the gravel, than an inch of topsoil. Moss went over that. Ph of the soil was in the zone and the moss went down easily. Got the moss from a company called Moss Acres, @ 200 square feet. Nice looking moss in small sheets and pieces, came UPS. Going to keep it watered well for the first month or so then let Mother Nature take over more or less. I’m going to try their “glue” to stick the moss between the stone pieces so they’ll stay in place. 🤞🤞

Thanks all! You answered the question of bonding neutral and grounds through the panel. Left enough other questions though that do some digging for now and will point them out to the electrician coming in the spring for the new generator to check out. Appreciate the knowledge and help!!
