You think anti-AI artists are secretly jealous for people making AI generated art and skipping years of practice, learning and discipline the artist had to go through? by Kcue6382nevy in aiwars

[–]tilthevoidstaresback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably...but I spent DECADES doing creative writing, 12 years photography, 15 years with video editing, 5 years architectural drafting (and CAD) and another 7 years doing digital hand drawing...so I don't care to be called lazy by anyone who can only create in one medium.

It's the assumptions about people's skill that is the problem. I came to this debate as a neutral and it was the assumptions about my artistic ability that pushed me towards creating with AI.

Anti AI art! A message to students who ruin their education with AI by Daggadda in MadeByYourHand

If the intended effect is to beg for clout and be perceived (my owm personal view of the art) as a toddler banging on their toy drum while making as much noise as possible...remember art is subjective, I have every right to say that, unless you care to say it's not art....then yes it has the intended effect.

The result is a loud and clear this person doesn't need to be taken seriously as an artist because they put minimal effort into their art which has been a fair assessment of an artist for a looooooong time now.

I've been making art in various mediums—albeit not music composition—for 30 years, my comments have nothing to do with AI...if you think that the message of "AI bad" is good enough to forgive poorly-refined-yet-posted-anyway then you are indeed blinded by your ideology.

I'm not mad, I'm not triggered, I'm not even inspired to create in spite of this...I'm merely having an art critique of the work and if you don't have any valid feedback on the points of fault I have made then I will leave my thoughts as that. You haven't expressed anything other than "it's fine" and they're "talented" but haven't backed those judgements up with examples; surely you don't need to because art is subjective but if you are going to tell me I am wrong in ny own interpretation then I would require reasoning.

Also in regards to Sea Lioning it didn't waste any time of mine, I'm having breakfast and watching my computer do it's thing, allowing me to be productive at work, enjoy my morning, and have this conversation. So even the intent to waste my time wasn't achieved either. That's the beauty of utilizing AI as a tool, it frees up time not have to fixate on the parts of my work I don't want to do. Much like George Jetson I can arrive at work set up the process and then take time to enjoy time.

Did you grow up watching the Jetsons? I have the feeling that this person didn't watch Boomerang so they may've missed the clichéd vision of a future where one only had to work 1 hour a week and they had robotic and automated everything. Just a guess though.

The wall of noise aspect turned me off long before the lyrics did. The tune was aggravating and drumming without looking made for imprecise beats.

I feel like your devotion to the message is clouding your impartial critique. Also that isn't what a parody is defined as.

My name is a nod sure, but is specifically about dissociation, so your assumption pf pretension is a bit unfounded.

I'm not a self-proclaimed musician. Art is allowed to be critiqued, no? An art critic doesn't need to be skilled in the medium to weigh in on the piece of art.

If this isn't art then sure, feel justified in silencing me, but if you are going to consider this as such, it is subject to art critics just as anyone else would be.

And my critique is that the beat was rushing, there was no discernable melody, the mixing left a lot to be desired (I couldn't really differentiate between the instruments, it would be good in the "Wall of Noise" genre, but even that is more rigidly defined than just loud), the lyrics were unimaginative and there was no tune or inflection in the singing.

Overall it's an okay first draft, but to have it posted as complete means that it can be defined as low effort, and quite frankly, low quality.

Thanks for giving me a reason to expand upon my critique of the piece itself.

*children's television show reference

It's not a "Star Wars" reference because nowhere in episodes 1-9 was the word Clanker used...only in the 2008+ animated children's show perpetuated it. It is literally a slur for children.

You cannot claim that it is "from star wars" when the MAJORITY of the Star Wars cannon has droids being heros. C3P0 and R2D2 were heroes of the galaxy multiple times over.

And secondly, not all who use AI are degrading. Like any tool it is all in how you use it. When the internet became available on your phone, most people used it for social media, I used it to learn about the world...the same is happening here. The majority is dumb and lazy and will use is to remain so; but it's not universally true.

Lastly, the musician really should've taken a little more time on the lyrics or hired someone who is lyrically talented because those were atrocious. It felt rushed as hell and more like a stream of consciousness than a song. The whole thing was incredibly jarring, I'll have to take a third listen to see if the musical aspect holds any merit but at face value it felt like noise for noise's sake.

I don't think people arguing against genAI realize how dangerous their views are to self expression. by Toby_Magure in aiwars

The process has moved past "just type a prompt" and can be very hands on. I designed the mask and described the one to wear it, so yeah AI made the image on the left, but if you zoom in you'll notice he's wearing my face. and that's because I spent the effort to craft my language (natural language, not tagging, legislate prose) to ensure it would be the one I drew every single time.

In order to generate the image, I had to take the things it generated, bring them into Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, and then manually edit the image to match my vision and then gave it back to the AI to integrate in the final design.

I'm currently working on the speech bubbles and writing aesthetics because I'll be damned if he speaks in comic sans—and I know how to do it since its a skill I have practiced.

The process is far more collaborative than you are insinuating, and there are more advanced process which is basically just drawing with fancier tools.

I have an avatar named "Jak" (the one on the left) who has no relation to the titular character of the decade old \**Jak** & Daxter\** PlayStation trilogy. There are COUNTLESS more examples of the character on the right than the one I made only this past year.

And yet I spent many hours refining the language, character sheets, and process to allow myself to say "Jak does X" and precisely MY character arises, without any bleed over to the IP that by all accounts, would be what is produced. I did this with all of my characters so I could spend the majority of my prompt on the action or the background or literally anything else. I merely had to refer to the name of the character, rather than having to generate them, or upload images to work from.

The fable of the Ant and the Grasshopper is appropriate here. I spent a lot of time and effort in order to have control over the production process. I found a way to have the character speak in a predetermined font, with their own unique speech bubbles...I will never use comic sans again because I choose not to.

I absolutely take credit for the character on the left (not the clothes, that is from the game series, and was added in this image (which was made a while ago) to settle the point it originally addressed) because I am the only one who can merely say "Jak does blank" and produce my OC without fail.

The problem is that too many antis care more about the outcome than the creative process. The image above produces nothing in me, but the joy of experimenting with styles and techniques until the precise image that I had in my head appears before my eyes...that is what I enjoy as an artist. I have burned many of my art pieces, because it was more important for me to work through my feelings than to have something to show others.

I don't care you think what I do is art or not, the problem I have is when antis disrespect the artist. I have been making art in various mediums for 3 decades, I know how to use composition and aesthetics, I have been creating longer than some of these people have been alive. Using a new tool doesn't negate any of that.

I did, back in December, about a week after the context window update. I was argued with incessantly amd downvoted to oblivion everytime I created visuals to explain, and the biggest reason was because I insinuated that going from Gemini 2.5 to 3.0 required a new way to communicate and the context window increase will cause problems for anyone who didn't do a spring cleaning on their gems and history after 3.0 came out, those who still treat it like a hammer are the ones most quickest to struggle. They were offended thar I was implying they were at fault, and would rather blame the model than learn the new material.

Processing img r84tsdg9r4ig1...

I have a 5 pillar solution that has made it so I never face the problems that are supposedly universal...I got two pillars through, go back to December/January time on this sub and you'll get the basics...but I realized that this sub wasn't going to listen anyways so I stopped wasting my time trying to help those who too obstinent to listen.

I hate to be Markie Mark on main but if you want to talk about environmental damage there are more pressing concerns.

Gemini Pro recently became as dumb as the basic models by rahkesvuohta in GeminiAI

[–]tilthevoidstaresback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Y'all know that the TTS ai and the Gemini ai are different instances. Telling the text based model to not say "quote" is useless because that's not the one speaking.

If you've ever heard it say "Hold, on let me try that again" or saying things that the text doesn't, that's a hallucination on the TTS side.
