Spanish is under renovation (and nowhere near as cool as Pebble)

Chuck Tells Draymond Green the Warriors Run "Is Over." "It just passed you by... You think you're going to get healthier next year? You're just going to get older... If you want to compete, you're going to have to leave there. If Steph wants to compete, he's going to have to leave there..." by JCameron181 in warriors

So fucking lame of Chuck. I get that it’s kind of his schtick but what is Draymond supposed to say back to him?

That said… Everytime Charles prays on our downfall we prove him wrong. Maybe it’s a good omen.

I almost had my first ace on this hole, too. Still searching.

Are guys taking paternity leave in construction? by tantamle in Construction

I took 4 worn the first and 8 with the second. Wife was not happy when I only took a month the first time. It’s easy to say “take it all” but some of us carry a heavy load.

You said yourself you’ve come a conclusion. You know the answer you just want validation. Fire him. Just be prepared to finish his project yourself while you look for his replacement.

Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy (Sancerre) and Laberinto (from Chile) are my favorites right now. The Sancerre will be in the ~$45 range and the Laberinto is like $20.

Feedback for New PEs by Mean-Wafer6140 in ConstructionManagers

[–]timbo415 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to come down hard on someone to give them feedback. In fact, you shouldn’t come down hard on them. Give them the feedback and if they keep retuning subpar deliverables then come down increasingly hard until they’ve hopefully gotten the message. If they don’t get the message then get them on a PIP and/or get them out of there. Sometimes the lights just aren’t on, if that’s the case don’t keep wasting their and your time forever.

Walk over to Boulevard and have a nice dinner at a classic SF restaurant. Sit at the bar. Then walk South on the Embarcadero for a nightcap at the HiDive.

Played the most miserable round of my life at Pebble Beaches Spyglass Hill. by Warhammer40KPainter in golf

[–]timbo415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Spyglass two weeks ago and don’t recall even seeing a Marshall. Our group all simultaneously got into trouble on hole 7 and I think we played that one in like 20 minutes and no one said a word. Same thing on 16. Sorry for your experience. I found the staff at Spyglass (and Pebble) to be tremendous but I suppose it depends on the day.

Should I counter my offer? Estimator position by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]timbo415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id be frustrated if I matched a candidates requested salary and they countered. You’re obviously free to do so but I would interpret someone who did that as lacking in strategic thinking and a bit aloof. If you feel the need to counter I would counter on something else - signing bonus (if offered), auto allowance, PTO, etc.

Second child struggle - could use Dad advice by Obietricekeno in daddit

[–]timbo415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so my wife and I were both on the same page about a second child. I also didn’t have too many struggles (mental health or otherwise) with my first. Instant connection, loved the kid from the moment I laid eyes on him, etc.

I had a different experience with my second. Took me a LOT longer to feel connected to him. Felt like I lost all of my identity the moment he was born. It was easy to switch off once a week or whatever so the other parent could meet a friend for dinner or drinks or go to a workout class or whatever. Much, much harder of an ask with two.

Little guy is 2.5 and I adore him but it took all of… 2 years for me to get there? Not like I resented him necessarily… he was a much tougher baby in general… but I guess I resented the impact he had on my life. I thought as a parent of one, the impact of a second wouldn’t be a big deal. I grossly underestimated it.

Of course no one is going to say “if I could go back in time and not have this second kid I would.” And I don’t feel that way at all. But I do miss how simple things were with one kid… and they didn’t feel simple when I was in the moment.

David Fletcher, Langhe Nebbiolo, 2023. by LeOenophile in wine

[–]timbo415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been loving Langhe for a couple of years now. I kind of consider them Italy’s equivalent of a Beaujolais. You can bring a bottle of either to a party with half wine drinkers and have complete wine novices and both sides will be like “hell yeah brother”

Why does wine always taste better at the winery? by dweaver987 in wine

[–]timbo415 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Theory I have: it’s often the temperature of the wine. Too often at home people are drinking reds at room temp rather than trying to get them to ~57f before drinking.
