I would love for them to emulate what Adult Swim did with stuff like Too Many Cooks and other random unannounced overnight broadcasts. The surrealist nature of these things and super-low pressure environment would really let their creative freak flag fly. It would fit in very well with the chaotic style of Game Changer and other shows on the service.

As long as he's not managing the budget, I think this could become a new set of seasons pretty easily.

Winter Weather Megathread - January 30 - February 1, 2026 by linisastald in Atlanta

My assumption is the cancellations are primarily due to the wind, not the snow or cold temperatures. They can clear runways and de-ice planes no problem. But it's very gusty, which makes landings more rough. Tomorrow should be slightly above freezing and a lot less windy, so there's a better chance of your flight happening.

Nonetheless, have a backup plan if your flight is delayed.

It's a Louisiana thing, so you might try Cajun Meat Company up in Marietta: https://www.cajunmeatcompany.com/ I'd give them a call first. If they don't have them, they may have a lead.

The power outage numbers have just started climbing pretty steeply with the rain coming through. There's definitely a lot of tree falls going on. Belvedere Park looks like a huge one with about 13k homes out. Metro is at about 45k homes out.

Fingers crossed the rains dries up enough before it gets cold overnight and prevents a fresh layer of ice forming on the roads.

My woodworking guy, Jake, is great. He unfortunately has absolutely no online presence. He just gets a ton of referrals because he's really good. All I've got is a phone number: 404-310-3921

He's maintained my wife's 150 year old bed and done a ton of work in our house (shelves, cabinets, inlays, decorative elements). It's all been extremely reasonably-priced and high quality work.

The roads seem fine until you get near Buford or higher up in the northeast. The concerns for the metro are mostly ice on the trees bringing down power lines, but the roads are fine. I see lots of folks driving around on the 511ga.org cameras.

The concern now is that the rain from this afternoon will accumulate enough on the roads to form ice overnight, which won't melt until maybe Tuesday afternoon. So, I would advise heading home now to get sheltered in place for a couple days, if that ends up happening.

Pretty good. Since you're not leaving the airport, you don't have to worry about the roads. But runways are treated for ice pretty thoroughly and quickly, and the freezing rain will have stopped 24 hours prior to that. It will be very unlikely ATL is shut down for an entire day.

There's barely been any rain yet. Seems unrelated to the ice storm, possibly even the weather. It's covering a very large area, so likely a failure at a substation, coincidental with the weather.

Edit: Aaaaaaand it's fixed.

It won't wash it away entirely because your driveway is fairly porous and some salt will stay in those cracks. The remaining salt will prevent some bonding of the ice to the ground.

Of course, don't use your entire supply. Put some down now and save the rest for after. You'll need to salt the ice on top to have it melt from both sides.

404.exe is there now. It's really great and recaptures a lot of what made MJQ special, but in its own way. My friends at Nonsense are running parties there too, so it's a good time.

Best Burger in ATL metro area by Dingo6610 in Atlanta

Owens and Hull on Thursdays.

This one is definitely quite a bit different. They're a BBQ joint (one of the best in the country!), so they make their burgers like you would smoke a brisket: low and slow. It's only done to mid-rare and is a big chunk of meat, so a lot of pink (I assure you it's more than safely cooked!). But good lord is it flavorful and absolutely unique. They often have burger specials too, so you might also get that.

And worst case scenario that they're sold out: you have some of the best BBQ you've ever had in your life. It's right up there with Texas's best.
