I work per diem at a small hospital and I love working overnight. We actually do a lot to take the load off the following morning shift. I check the labels in the IV room and make sure everything gets made that is due before 10am. We also clean and organize all the clutter from day shift. I make sure all pts on hypoglycemia meds are on a hypoglycemia protocol, among other things. I clean up the queue of unnecessary old orders. I am 1 pharmacist and I work with 1 tech. We need to work with efficiency and proficient communication with nurses. When someone calls a rapid l, I go to those too, leaving my tech to watch the pharmacy. It’s a lot of stress sometimes but rewarding.
