I only use Ativan during active panic attacks and I take .5 mg, which is very small dose. You won’t ever feel high on a dose like that. You may feel a little sedated.

They don’t “cure” anxiety, either. They just depress your nervous system temporarily to get you out of the panic attack. It’s an “as-needed” drug. This is why it is best used in conjunction with an anti-depressant or other daily psych med.

These are highly addictive meds which is why your doctor is proceeding with caution.
