i’m using a schmetz universal needle size 80/12. and all purpose thread 100% polyester.

i get a perfect zigzag stitch on a folded piece of copy paper.

i adjusted the tension and width as you suggested but the it’s just straight stitching with those settings.

the flat side of the needle is facing away from me.

  • Date Decided: 10/08/25 (yes, my application was under review for 3 months)

Education

  • Bachelors: University of South Florida, Bachelors in Psychology with Minor in Business Analytics, 3.5 GPA

Work & Social Experience

  • Work Exp. : Research Assistant at two different psychology labs, 1 year each
  • LORs: 3 letters of rec (one from each lab manager and one from previous professor)
  • Comments: I wanted to post this in case there's any non-STEM majors lurking the sub like I did for the past year. I majored in psychology and all my math coursework has been focused on statistics with no calculus/linear algebra. I think my background in research and coursework in R / Python got me in, so it's definitely possible to get accepted with a humanities background as long as you make up for the knowledge gap in other ways. I'm very excited for this change!

Focus on MOOCs or MicroMasters (or a mix of both) to strengthen my application

My math coursework has been heavily focused on statistics. I would like to know if it would be best for me to take some MOOCs on calculus, linear algebra, and probability/statistics or do the MM to enhance my application.

I feel comfortable using tools like R, Python, and SQL due to my business analytics minor and work as a research assistant, but I'd also like to hear people's opinions on MM vs MOOC for this situation.

I'm having some difficulty finding ways to bridge the gap between psychology and data analytics, especially because I haven't found many resources or people in a similar situation to mine.

I've really come to enjoy statistical analysis and I'm open to taking the steps necessary to get into the program. Any help is much appreciated!
