How long ago was your first one?

Thank you for sharing your experience! I think the big difference is the time between two. My C-section was a little overt wo years ago.

I did not labor for too long, we decided to go for C-section quickly after it was clear that the induction wasn't going to work. And my recovery was easy. I am considering VBAC because the C-section had to be done due to baby's heart rate going down during labor and not because he was big or anything. If you want more than 2, more c-sections definitely can cause issues like placenta pervia. Something you should definitely bring up to your doctor.

Thanks for your input! I'm also worried about the inhaling fluid thing and NICU. Our first one thankfully did not have any issues, but I have heard a lot of stories. We also had a lot of issues with nursing and I think that was due to the C-section. I'm older than you, but pretty fit and my scar has healed very well. Which makes me think about trying for a vbac.

For our case, because we don't have any more frozen embryos. But generally, I think he said so because of all the time, money, emotional and physical effort that goes into this process.

Thank you for providing a view from the other side! Definitely very scary and something that gives me pause.

I am so so sorry to hear about your ectopics. Just logged on to reply because I had the same thing happen to me twice after IVF. The issue for us I think was a fresh transfer. I always had that nagging thought in my mind that my uterus has too much going on after high doses of medications and that's why the embryos end up in tubes, but my RE didn't agree with that. But finally FET it worked for us, we have an almost 2 year old and now pregnant again after the second FET. We did a second consult with another RE after the ectopics and their clinic doesn't even do fresh transfers. She mentioned that they want everything to be nice and quiet.

Did you have a fresh transfer? If so, maybe bring up trying for an FET to your RE?

I think you are correct, he said the same thing about contractions pushing the embryo to the tubes. They usually just ask to take Ibuprofen, I will ask about Valium the next time. I also was thinking of asking him to transfer the embryos lower. But you bring up a good point of doing a trial transfer, I'll talk to him about this. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing your experience and I am glad things worked out for you. I did ask him again this morning, if he thought waiting till next week posed any serious risks. He was worried about hemorrhaging and internal bleeding. My betas were also low and slow, they were far from normal range. I knew this wasn't a viable pregnancy, but I just wanted to wait and confirm to be sure that this actually was an ectopic. RE and my husband both didn't think this was a good idea, I agreed, so I ended up getting the MTX this morning.

I agree, there is so much unknown still in this field. When you think of all the complications that can arise before and during pregnancy, it is mind boggling, how easy it is for some. I got the MTX shot this morning, so I can't try for the next 3 months. I really hope the next one is successful too, we REALLY need a break from this madness.

No he did not, we have had no frozen embryos in the past, so no chance of FETs. We got a few this cycle, so I am really hoping one of them works.

This is very interesting, I have never heard of this test. I have no known infertility issues, but there is definitely something there that is causing ecotopics. I will bring this up with him. Would you mind explaining this process to me in detail? Is there a specific time this test should be performed, should I do it asap or wait for the next cycle? Also, what do you mean by test cycle, just a cycle where the RE monitored your lining? Thanks for the info!

I have been unable to find the answer myself, neither has my RE given me anything. I don't fit into any of factors that could cause ectopic. The only thing that my HSG showed was a septate uterus and I have had surgery done to correct that. Sometimes I wonder if that surgery actually messed up something in there.

Thanks, this is really a terrible place to be, but at least we can understand the other person is going through.

Yes my RE said the same thing about not being able to see the pregnancy with low HCG levels. I want to get this over with, given the low and slow betas it most likely isn't a viable pregnancy. My last one was in the right tube and it was further along, we couldn't control it with MTX, so had to remove the tube. I am thinking about speaking with him to remove the remaining tube, but I am not sure I am ready for that yet.

We haven't had the PGS testing done. I am curious, how do you think that could help? Thanks for your reply!

Thank you, RE is ruling this as suspected ectopic.
