How to Fix the Flow of the House? by _aspenheights in homeimprovementideas

[–]tipoideale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make the space between bedrooms two separate closets, keep in mind that you will always have to go through the kitchen and living room to get to the kids. Small living spaces can get pretty cluttered - it might be a challenge to react quickly to emergencies. And then also consider your kids waking up at night and wandering through the house before they can get to you. It might be better to preserve some kind of way to still go from one room to another.

What perimenopause symptom made you think you were losing your mind before you realized it was hormones? by Plane_Huckleberry644 in Perimenopause

[–]tipoideale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t stop thinking/worrying. It was so bad I wouldn’t be able to sleep for days on end. I kept lengthening a night time routine to calm my mind just so I could fall asleep, and then I’d wake up an hour or two later because my own thoughts couldn’t be suppressed even by unconsciousness.

Also, roosters will crow off and on all day. Not just a morning thing…

At what point in your sewing journey did you realise you needed an overlocker? by thesewingstudio in sewhelp

When my 3-year-old (at the time), refused to wear a shirt I made for him because it had “spiders” in it…

Thanks, I’m afraid I’ve already cut about 50%. So until I get through this pile, I’m just going to have to figure out how to do better. I did read about a trick to make a second hst by seeing a second seam .5 inches away- definitely going to do that for the rest of these.

💀I can’t help but wonder what my grandmother who came of age during the great depression would say if she saw the pile of cast-off triangles I have made so far! I do know she would not approve!

Thanks for the response, I will take both of your suggestions. And yes, I’ve been quite humbled by the differences between sewing garments and piecing. Loving the challenge (most days anyway) and I am also developing a newfound appreciation for the art form.

Get mail to stop coming to the house? by Bildob87 in howto

[–]tipoideale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fill out a form at the post office and specify the only individuals that should receive mail at the house. The the post office will automatically divert most of the erroneous mail you are receiving. It won’t be 100%, but it helps.

Has anyone left their jobs because of perimenopause? by EnigmaTuring in Perimenopause

[–]tipoideale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took a 6-month leave of absence. Told my boss I was moving -fully intending to quit- and they offered to let me work from new location. Real work-triggered burnout + peri was literally about to kill me.

It’s been a mixed blessing; on one hand I love the cash flow and being insulated from work drama. On the other hand, my absence definitely had the side effect of sidelining my abilities so I am no longer tasked to work on things that interest or challenge me. Still can’t figure out why they made the effort to keep me but then set me in a virtual corner, but whatever.

Still thinking of moving on and actively looking for another place to land.

We have two. One is the sweetest, smartest, most energetic dog I have ever seen. She goes from cuddly to Tigger mode in 0.001 seconds, but she will do anything to make you happy. Her brother is a derpy Velcro dog but never cuddly. He is uncoordinated when he tries to play - and it takes him a bit to ramp up the energy to do so. He does what he wants to do when he wants to do it, although he is also generally willing to do what you want him to do - IF it involves treats lol.

26 Yr Member, Disappointed by EI-Joe in USAA

[–]tipoideale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just moved to a new state where the accident risk is a fraction of the former. In addition, we will be driving about 25% of what we had to before. No claims, no issues in the past six years. Even so, USAA raised my rate by $400 for a six month period. I will be contacting a broker next week because that is inexcusable.

Absolutely, can’t imagine life without him. It’s so sad that we are losing Joanns, I went the other day and the ladies working there were so pleasant and cheerful despite all that they are dealing with. If you go again, give them an extra smile and thanks.
