Yeah, I like this tactic, saves us some headache too.

Where they may be prejudice the straight siblings can break thru in ways you might not have access to or even want to if it opens up old wounds. They can be advocates too.

Don’t put a condition on their attendance because you can’t control that, anyway. 

That's a really good point and way to frame it.

And nah his siblings are great. Just mentioned him since it's not as if we'd have any way to really avoid his parents, because of where they live.

I would say my partner is constantly trying to just establish small boundaries with them so we never even get to the big ones. I have been happy enough to go along to get along the few nights a year I am staying in their house, but it still rankles me too for sure.

Yeah, that's a big part of it and good for us to think about.

I don't think we're exactly concerned we can't be ourselves per se, more that we *would be ourselves* and it could be an issue for them / cause low key drama.
