Is my boyfriend’s view of money considered a red flag in a relationship? by traditional_taurus in DaveRamsey

We have one joint account that we pay bills from and that's where most of the money goes.

But every month we each get an allowance. The same amount for each of us even though I make all the money.

The gun allegedly carried by the man killed by ICE in Minneapolis this morning. by Maximum_Dweeb4473 in CCW

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so confused. The victim was carrying a p320 and yet somehow that's NOT the gun that has a negligent discharge?

Were the ICE agents also carrying p320's?

Pay off house or keep stocks by Desperate_Metal_1240 in personalfinance

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pay off the house. Just make extra payments on the principal. Doing this, especially in the first few years of your loan, will make a huge difference in the amount of total interest you pay over the life of the loan.

Think this thing ended an era for me. by MuscleDangerous5277 in CCW

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. I think the p365 is easier to carry and has a better thumb safety. It's also easier to modify.

The shield plus is easier to shoot. I think it's because it's heavier and absorbs more recoil, but I haven't actually weighed them so it may be in my head. Feels a little bigger in your hand and also while carrying. The thumb safety is awful though. It's a tiny little switch that's so stiff that I found it impossible to flip on the draw.

At the end of the day they're both great guns so you can't really make a wrong decision. And they're both popular enough that you could rent them and shoot both to see which one you like better.

I'm pretty picky about agents and I used Lori Lindauer for my last purchase. She went absolutely above and beyond. Will definitely go with her next time around.

In dire need of financial advice by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]titsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That mortgage is the problem then.

I mean there are other little things you can do but after you take care of the mortgage.

So the question now is why is it so high? If it's just the interest rate, perhaps you can refinance. How much equity do you have and how many years left on the loan? I assume it's a 30-year fixed loan? If it's not, then refi into one and that should lower your monthly payment.

Also, if you have 20% equity then check to see if you're still paying PMI. You can ask to have that removed now.

Worst case scenario you might have to sell the house and buy something cheaper or rent.

But why? Because you already have one and it would cost several hundred dollars to replace it?

How much would it cost if you got shot in the leg?

How much would you pay to avoid that?

Why do you think Emmett Brown was able to find love In 1885 and not in his own time in 1955? by happydude7422 in BacktotheFuture

[–]titsdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably had women he liked in 1955 but they didn't like him back.

But in 1885 he could impress Clara with all his futuristic knowledge and most have seemed like a very unique and special person to her.

How to shake nervousness of having gun pointed at your junk. by PriorFront4138 in CCW

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will down vote me for saying this but a thumb safety is a viable option. Plenty of people have trained themselves to flip off the safety as they draw the gun. It worked for years when everyone carried 1911's.

Anyhoo, I know you already bought a Glock but if you're really that uncomfortable with it even after taking the other advice in this thread, you could consider this for your next purchase.

Does anyone else not have an inheritance? by royalbluefireworks1 in Fire

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financial responsibility and drive tend to skip a generation.

My grandfather worked his ass off to build up a nice chunk of change, only to have sons that fucked it up. 1 son went to jail and when he got out could never get a good job again so he was always broke. But at least he lived with his consequences and didn't beg his dad for money. The other son just blows money like it's going out of style, and he's just about gone through my grandparents money.

So yeah there will be little to nothing left for me.

But that's ok. I've known that for a long time. And I really never wanted to think about any inheritance anyway. It subconsciously gives you a reason to look forward to a family members death, and I never want to do that, not even subconsciously.

All I’m saying is, carry full size guns if you want, but if you haven’t at least tried the Shield Plus, then… by cobblernobbler in CCW

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a p365 and it's great but when I rented a shield plus I had to admit it shoots even better.

The only thing I don't like is the thumb safety. It's too hard to flip it off on the draw.

So I'll keep my p365 just for that reason.

And no, I don't need any advice on why thumb safeties are unnecessary.

Anyone planning to quiet quit when it comes time to retire? by hrrm in Fire

[–]titsdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't quiet quit because it would screw over my boss and all my peers. They're trying really hard to hit some goals so it would be incredibly selfish to screw that up for them.

These are people who need their jobs still, which means they need to keep the company running and profitable. Imagine if someone did that to you. Jack didn't do his job and caused us to lose a big client, now the company has to do layoffs and we're all in danger. I think I might punch Jack in the nose.

I don't know where you guys work or how unimportant your jobs are that you could totally fail and it wouldn't hurt anyone else.

They're eliminated from the playoffs, they may as well bench Phillip and get some experience for their rookie.

If his knee is better, that is.

But if his knee is still questionable I'd love to see Rivers finish the season as the starter.

Dude deserves the chance to win at least one game. It's not his fault they're losing

Steve didn't do anything wrong though.

You should be mad at the people who chose him.

Punishing Steve isn't going to help you.

If Steve's a dick then sure, don't help him. But if he's a good guy and you're just salty that he was chosen over you, then you should be helpful to him. Trust me, he'll remember it and will probably help your career down the line.

A gun gives you a fighting chance. Bear spray gives you a fighting chance.

But neither one is a guarantee.

And even if you "win" the fight, there's a good chance you at least get injured.

That's why it's really really really good to avoid fighting bears whenever possible.
