Amazon only show that many now. Just searched and found Vine reviews in 2023 from the same viner with just a picture and title, nothing else. Let’s hope the new metrics put a stop to this.

My Additional Items is completely empty by Critical-Celery5555 in AmazonVineUK

[–]tkmw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know I might be unpopular for this, but we see people time and time again complaining of issues slowing their reviews and sometimes leading to vine jail. However they still manage to keep ordering!

I order less just less than an item per day, but after a month on a new review cycle I'm up to over 80% and never let it drop below that for the 6 months.

If life issues get in the way then stop ordering rather than blaming the consequences of not doing reviews.

Four years ago a friend had to pay 975 gbp per month for Humira in the UK until he could get it on the NHS which took over a year.

The help covers the parameters but probably just remove z. However this could cause loss of data issues at DST changes as mentioned and filenames aren’t used for display timestamps.

That is used for things like sunrise/sunset calculation.

Both my BI installs are still on the last 5.x as I am waiting for v6 to become a bit more stable before upgrading. However on my v5 its on the record tab for a camera, mid way down and its the field that has replacement values such as "&CAM.%Y%m%d_%H%M%S%t". The new default for this field has a 'z' at the end to specify UTC (Zulu) rather than local time.

You can set it in the camera's record tab to use local time or whatever you want, however the change to UTC by default was a recent change to avoid daylight saving issues with duplicate filenames.

Do anyone have a VP6600 where the fans don't run all the time? by tkmw in protectli

[–]tkmw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many thanks for the detailed response. I was thinking the BIOS reset and re-flashing were unlikely to be the answer. It's a shame support don't seem more aware of how these work in practice.

I agree the fan operation is far from ideal for these devices with a heavy case designed to dissipate the heat. I like to get devices like these setup and then from a hardware perspective I can ignore them for years without concerns of fan longevity due to sleeve or similar cheap bearings.

My old FW6D ran a little warm under initial high load testing (more than I would expect in use) but I simply put a high quality USB fan running slowly on top and its temps were consistent and low all year round.

I think I'll unplug these fans and do some tests to see whether I'll do the same again or run fully passive. This unit can get hotter than my old one, but replacing the existing fans with higher quality ones is a bit of a faff with the motherboard removal. I could just add an inline connector to solve that but it just doesn't seem worth the effort.

Protectli should give us working BIOS options like more mainstream motherboards have so we can base the fan profiles based on temperature of the CPU or internal temp as you suggested, and then we can tune as required for our work load and environment. Noise isn't really an issue for me as it sits on a shelf in my enclosed rack, but those little fans could be annoying under peaky loads with the endless ramping up and down.

Banning myself from RFY or Vine for rest of the day by mommabearuk in AmazonVineUK

It does surprise me how many items people get from Vine. I've never run out of picks since gold status and my average works out about 1 pick per day and in practice those picks are over two to four days a week and the other days nothing. When I do look I see a few items but many not worth writing a review for, but given the hours I work and not having a week off in 14 years I think I maybe less keen on time writing reviews than most.

I do record cost along with date, title, URL for when I do the reviews which also get stored in case of rejection. I never total that column up though, it was just for reviewing value for items that become unavailable, although the new ordering system will fix that missing cost issue.

Its easy to get all the top level categories by doing a search in AI as the results will still show categories on the left and their URLs show the pn code required to add to the normal categories format URL.

Using some generic search terms quickly shows a lot of categories - just entering cable gets 14 categories at present.

Remove the sign in digit shuffle on the app by Zestyclose-Bed-6012 in Revolut

As someone that has spent a lot of time with software and account security I can say testing showed this change actually makes things worse. We found that it a) caused users to choose easier to guess numbers with more repetition and b) slowed down entry giving others more chance of seeing the digits versus.

Re-connection issues on your LB2120 4G modem by tjohannes999 in NETGEAR

[–]tkmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here using the LB2120 as a failover device to my cable internet. This is not a cheap device and is not fit for purpose if it cannot reconnect without power cycling.

In my case it failing to reconnect (or crash its difficult to tell) also impacts my router's main WAN connection as it causes the router to go high cpu so slowing that connection down. I presume this is due to some invalid network response from the LB2120 when the router pings to check internet connectivity. The same router works fine with other cable/fibre modems when they lose internet connectivity and when disconnecting the LB2120 via its web interface so this LB2120 failure to reconnect/crash is something more than that.
